GREETINGS FROM SPARTAN LANE
Thank you for your patience, humility and support over the last several days. I am beyond proud of our professionals at Athens Academy and the good work they are putting into our program and their students. Linked below this section are several articles that I strongly encourage you to read and consider sharing with your children. One of these articles addresses the importance of following public health protocols in order to keep our community safe. This pandemic has altered our lives, and we need to respect what the professionals are saying. This is not an extended spring break but rather a time to make wise decisions for the greater good. Read more.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ATHENS ACADEMY'S CAMPUS IS CLOSED TO ALL
NON-EMPLOYEES AT LEAST UNTIL MONDAY, MARCH 30.
Please see the Student Materials Pick-Up Schedule (more information below) for details on assigned dates/times for students will be allowed on campus to pick up books, instruments, etc. Additionally, all athletic practices are canceled and contests are postponed through March 30 or until further notice.
STUDENT MATERIALS PICK-UP SCHEDULE
TUESDAY, MARCH 17 & WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18
This schedule is an attempt to keep our community safe in the best way(s) possible and to make the temporary return to campus as efficient and as effective as possible. If you have more than one student, please come at the time scheduled for your youngest child. This will help us manage traffic on campus and will also allow our cleaning crews and maintenance staff to plan accordingly.  Questions? Please email your child's division director or call the main school number at 706.549.9225.

A MESSAGE TO PARENTS OF JUNIORS & SENIORS
FROM THE GUIDANCE OFFICE
Based on the number of emails from various colleges announcing their efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 flooding Dr. Reid's and Dr. Rogers' inboxes, now is not the best time to schedule campus visits. If you do hope to visit a particular school in the next few weeks, be sure to reach out to their admissions office before doing so. Many schools are working to provide virtual opportunities to tour their campuses and ask questions. For rising seniors, this might be a useful way to launch your college search. For seniors trying to make their final college selection, be patient. Colleges will be working to facilitate your needs in the days ahead. Please contact Dr. Rogers or Dr. Reid with any questions or concerns. Thank you and stay healthy!

NEED HELP WITH SpartanNet?
As part of our distance-learning initiatives, students and parents will need to use SpartanNet to find assignments, announcements, etc., from faculty and administrators. If you need help with your login/password or basic information on using SpartanNet, please contact Denny Dotson by email or at 706.433.1825.

You can email photos to Kelley Cuneo or tag Athens Academy on Facebook, Instagram (@athens_academy) or Twitter (@athens_academy). And in the meantime, stay safe and healthy and enjoy the time with your family!
COVID-19 HEALTH RESOURCES

TIPS ON STAYING HEALTHY & REDUCING RISK
Public health officials recommend the following steps people should take to reduce their risk of getting and spreading any viral respiratory infections. These include:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces.
  • Stay at home and away from others if you are feeling ill.
