This Week
Final eSpiritus Today
The final eSpiritus of the 2019-2020 Academic Year is today. We will resume with a special Back-to-School edition on August 3.  We hope you have a relaxing, and fun-filled, summer.
From the Academics Office
Student and parent access to PowerSchool will be disabled on the morning of May 21 for final grade entry. Report cards will be posted and PowerSchool access reinstated on June 15.
Discussions with School Leadership This Week
As we bring this school year to a close, we are already discussing the various scenarios for our return to school in August.  Join Mr. Spellman and incoming interim principal Edye Simpson and soon to be interim president John Favier for a Zoom call this week. We will be discussing the various plans for safely coming back to campus. Each meeting will cover the same information, but we are gathering by grades. If you are unable to join us, each of these meetings will be recorded. We will post the recorded meetings on the COVID-19 page that we have set up on the website.  You can find that page here.

Consider Purchasing a Legacy Brick Today
For $107.50, a brick will be engraved with your message, and will be displayed in the Senior Courtyard. Purchase a brick by May 22, and we will include a free commemorative miniature brick in your order.

In order to help prepare students academically for the 2020-2021 school year, St. Pius X is offering several academic course opportunities this summer in the subjects of English, math, world language, and writing. The classes will be held Monday, July 27 - Thursday, July 30 (and Tuesday, July 21 - Friday, July 24 for math and writing only). More information about each course/teacher can be found here . Since safety is always a priority, there may be changes due to the coronavirus. These changes will be posted on the  Summer Enrichment webpage  and teachers will communicate to enrolled students/parents.

In the best of times, the families of Dresden Elementary School experience great food insecurity.  Over 90% of their students qualify for the free/subsidized lunch program during the school week.  As you can imagine, the CoVid-19 Pandemic has made matters much worse for the families of the students.  To that end, the Dresden Elementary School Education Foundation is partnering with several other community organizations to expand and build upon a program that was launched at the beginning of the school year called "Backpack Buddies."  The goal is to provide 150 packages of non-perishable food each week to Dresden Elementary School families for the next 13 weeks.

To donate food to be delivered to our families, please see the list of non-perishable food items needed as well as a schedule for dropping off at Skyland United Methodist Church (best practices for social distancing per CDC guidelines will be observed).  Click here for food items needed and for times to drop-off food.
Reminders
Student Physicals
All NEW incoming students are required to have a physical on file at St. Pius X before the first day of school.  All athletes participating in an athletic or dance program are required to have a physical on file before any weight training, tryouts, or practices.   All CURRENT students participating in an athletic or dance program are required to have a physical on file before any strength/weight training, tryouts, or practices. All physicals must be dated after April 1, 2020 to count for the 2020-2021 school year.  This year we have a new process for collecting physicals and associated paperwork.  Click on this link to learn more.  Please note, students and parents must use their St. Pius X family email and addresses when creating their accounts.  St. Pius X will not be offering physicals this year.  Instead, we are encouraging everyone to go to their personal physician.  If you have problems getting an appointment with your own doctor, you may go to any urgent care facility or pharmacy that offers "sports physicals."  Contact your coach or team coordinator for more information about centers that offer physicals.  Be sure to take physical forms at the time of your physical.
Athletic Summer Camps Re-Scheduled to July
Due to continuing concerns, and out of an abundance of caution during the COVID-19 pandemic, the athletic summer camps originally scheduled for May and June, have now been pushed back to July. For more information, including re-scheduled dates, click here.
