A new season brings a new chapter for TC Football

As we open another football season at Tampa Catholic, I am incredibly proud of the growth, commitment, and determination our players have shown. Since January, these young men have invested nine months of hard work; a lot of early mornings, long afternoons, countless reps in the weight room and on the practice field, and a commitment to becoming better teammates and better men.

That work has already begun to show. Our inspiring wins over IMG Jr. National and Jefferson in the past two weeks were tremendous moments for our program and a reflection of the confidence and toughness this team has developed. More importantly, they provided our players with tangible evidence that their preparation, sacrifice, and belief in one another are paying off.

Now, we turn our attention to an exciting milestone as we open the season at home this Friday against St. Pete Catholic on our brand-new turf field. We cannot wait to take the field in front of the TC community and begin this next chapter together.

Throughout this journey, our football program has felt the incredible support of our entire Tampa Catholic family, and for that I thank you, Crusader Nation! We are excited about where we are, and even more excited about where we are going. I look forward to seeing and hearing you all tonight!

Students share the fruits from their impactful mission trip to Peru

Three students spoke at the conclusion of Tuesday’s first all-school Mass, sharing how the summer mission trip to Peru impacted them as students, individuals, and disciples called to serve.

For Sydney Williams '27, a single day spent with a young girl left a lasting impact, teaching her to live in the moment, worry less about what comes next, and be fully present wherever the Lord has placed her.

Morgan Herce '27 spoke about how Peru transformed her understanding of service. Once focused on simply completing required service hours, she now actively seeks opportunities to serve boldly and with an open heart. Since returning, Morgan has already found new ways to make an impact in her local community.

James Owsiak '29 shared the importance of stepping outside your comfort zone and taking a leap of faith. As the youngest missionary who knew none of the upperclassmen on the trip, James returned with a close-knit group of friends formed through their shared experience of service.

Justin Vertino '14 Heart of A Crusader

Student-Athlete Scholarship

Applications will be accepted starting Monday, August 24, 2026 for the Justin Vertino – Heart of a Crusader Student-Athlete Scholarship.

Justin Vertino graduated in 2014 and was an exceptional student-athlete. During his time at TC, he encouraged other student-athletes to work hard and reach their full potential on and off the field. In his honor, the Vertino family established this scholarship following his passing.

This award is available to Freshman, Sophomore or Junior Student-Athlete with 3.5 weighted grade point average. The yearly award for this scholarship is $2,500 and it may be renewed yearly. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Rodriguez in the Advancement office.

Please note that the deadline to apply is September 14, 2026.

Looking Ahead

Three weeks in, the school year is no longer just beginning; it’s taking shape. Routines are forming, expectations are becoming clearer, and the choices students make now are beginning to build the foundation for the year ahead.

For our seniors, this is an especially important season. Counselors are continuing individual senior meetings, helping each student turn the question “What comes next?” into a plan.

On the Horizon - Saturday, Standardized Testing Dates

SAT: September 12 & October 3

ACT: September 19 & October 17

For students considering fall testing, now is the time to prepare, plan ahead, and be mindful of registration deadlines.

And for every student, freshman to senior, our message this week is simple: Don’t wait until you’re struggling to ask for help. Strong students aren’t the ones who have everything figured out; they’re the ones who learn when to ask questions, use their resources, and take ownership of what comes next.

One week at a time. One decision at a time. One step closer to where you want to go.

Player Interest Meetings

HUGE Tri-Match Victory for Crusader Boys Golf!

The Crusader Boys Golf Team pulled out a thrilling 145–153–167 victory over Calvary Christian and Freedom High Schools!

What makes this victory especially impressive is the team score of 145. That matches the low team score from last season—and is a score that, according to previous coaching staffs, hasn’t been accomplished by the Crusaders in a decade and possibly never. A team score of 145 means our four counting golfers combined to shoot just ONE over par!

And one Crusader golfer was absolutely ON FIRE! He carded an incredible 4-under-par 32, a score that no one—including previous coaching staffs—can remember being shot by a Crusader golfer in a match. What an incredible performance!

The match stayed close throughout, but the Crusaders kept the pressure on with several clutch pars and birdies down the stretch to secure the WIN!
