A Reflection on The Meaning of Academic Excellence

This week, as we celebrated students who earned a place on the honor roll last semester, received Advanced Placement Achievement Awards, and were inducted into honor societies, I found myself reflecting on what academic excellence truly means at Tampa Catholic.

While these accomplishments are worthy of celebration, we also recognize that academic excellence does not look the same for every student. As a college preparatory high school, our mission is to meet each student where they are and to cultivate their growth so that each one leaves Tampa Catholic prepared to succeed at the college level. While families, teachers, coaches, and counselors may plant the seed and cultivate the soil, St. Paul reminds us that it is God who makes the plant grow. Rooted in faith, we nurture each student’s God-given gifts, inspiring excellence as they grow into the people God is calling them to be.

It is a blessing to see each of you thriving academically. Continue to pursue excellence in and out of the classroom as you prepare for college next year!

Green Locos Shirt Fundraiser

Want to show your TC spirit? Green Locos is selling official club shirts, and all proceeds will support our school spirit club and help us continue bringing more spirit to campus!

These shirts are perfect to wear on Dress Down/Spirit Days, at the TC vs. Jesuit Blackout Game, and at other TC events throughout the year to represent Crusader Pride.

Do you want to dive deeper into your faith and build community here at TC?

Kairos 7 is January 6-9th at Dayspring Episcopal Conference Center. We leave right after school ends on Wednesday, January 6th. The cost is $285. Please ensure to sign up by Monday, November 2nd. Payment is not refundable after Friday, November 6. There is also a MANDATORY parent meeting on November 9th.

Peru Mission Trip for TC Mothers

The Moms in Peru Immersion also offers something especially valuable for our network. It brings together mothers from different Edmund Rice schools across North America, allowing them not only to experience the mission but also to build relationships with one another and return home as wonderful partners in strengthening the charism within their own school communities.

The two options for August 2027 provide an opportunity either to participate in the Lima immersion alone or to extend the experience to include the Andes and Machu Picchu.

Michelle Rapier of the Christian Brothers Network will host an information zoom on October 6 at 4:00pm PST for any moms interested. Here is a sign up for the zoom.

Weekly Athletics Calendar

September 27 - October 3

PSAT – Wednesday, October 7

Tampa Catholic will administer the Digital PSAT to all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors on Wednesday, October 7. Testing begins promptly at 8:00 a.m., and students must arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. Attendance is expected for all students in grades 9–11; this is not an optional testing day, and there is no make-up date.

Students should report to their homeroom unless they have received a different testing assignment from the Student Support Office. All students must bring a fully charged iPad and charging cable.

PSAT Day Attire: Students may wear a college shirt or TC uniform shirt with their TC uniform shorts and approved school shoes.

A detailed email with additional PSAT information, testing-day instructions, dismissal times, and preparation resources has been sent to all freshman, sophomore, and junior families. Please refer to that communication for complete details.
