CASCADE CHRISTIAN SPORTS FALL OF FAME
The 2026 class of the Cascade Christian Sports Hall of Fame has been announced, including a key member of our first championship teams in 2006-07, a longtime coach, and a special contributor who took thousands of photos of our Challenger athletes for decades.
Josh Heidegger, Paul Sha, and Max Brown will be recognized during halftime at the Challengers boys basketball game against St. Mary's on Friday, January 23 (see details in graphic above).
Sha has been with Grace Cascade Christian Schools since 1985, and for many of those years, he has served in a coaching capacity. As much for his spiritual guidance as his teaching of the fundamentals of sports such as baseball and basketball, Sha is fondly revered by his former players.
Not unlike Sha, Mr. Brown has served at GCCS in a number of roles, but for his years as sports photographer, he will be honored this Friday. Recalling his days as a high school athlete, he had only picture to document his competitive days. Brown wanted to lovingly ensure our athletes had much more to look back on. He and his wife were fixtures in the CCHS Pavilion, as he shot games and matches well into his 80s.
Heidegger has a special place in Cascade history. He was a key member of our first football and basketball championship teams. In fact, he scored on a key touchdown pass from Josh Davis to help the Challengers win the 2006 2A title against Bonanza. An outstanding thrower, Heidegger went on the compete in track and field at the University of Oregon, and later went on to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach at USC.
We welcome you to come see us Friday as we celebrate our newest Hall of Fame members.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Brady Kleker scored a season high 22 as CCHS defeated North Valley on Tuesday night. Jake Holden followed with a 24-point performance in the Challengers' Thursday win over Rogue River. Kleker and Hudson Gotzman scored 16 and 15 respectively, as Cascade Christian rallied for a big 53-49 victory over Creswell on Saturday.
WESTLING
Kenzi Rullamas finished second in her weight class, and wrestling newcomer Ayden Slack earned his first two career victories as Cascade Christian competed at the Rumble on the Rogue meet Saturday.
Rullamas won her first two matches at 105 pounds, scoring a win on a reversal over Vanessa Romero in the quarterfinals, and Naheli Mena in the semifinals. Golden Rule of Del Norte was a winner in the final, with Rullamas finishing as runner up.
After an opening loss, Slack picked up a victory in the consolation semifinals, and he won the consolation finals at 285 pounds against Logan Seeley of Del Norte to take fifth.
After a quarterfinal loss, Joey Minard bounced back to capture fifth place at 190 pounds. In the consolation semis, the junior defeated Konnor Middleton of Klamath Union, and then he was a winner in the consolation finals over Jaden Hoffman of North Valley.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Challenger girls have won eight in a row, among the most impressive was their Saturday victory in overtime against Creswell. Brynn Coppedge led the lady Challengers with 15 points, while Kinlee Davis had nine points and 13 rebounds, Grace McCauley had nine points, six rebounds, and four assists, and Peyton Hurley added eight points and six rebounds. The girls are 11-4.
SWIMMING
Cascade Christian put together an outstanding team performance at the Heath-Phoenix Invitational, showing depth, speed, and dominance across nearly every event. The Challengers captured multiple individual victories and relay titles while consistently placing swimmers in the scoring positions, making them one of the most impressive teams at the meet.
Leading the charge was Myles Anderson, who delivered a huge sprint double by winning both the 50 Free (21.79) and the 100 Free (48.95), firmly establishing himself as the fastest sprinter in the meet. In the distance events, Zach Fennell powered to a commanding victory in the 500 Free (6:40.14), while also adding a strong fourth-place finish in the 100 Free. The backstroke events were highlighted by Michael Ragan’s win in the 100 Back (1:05.60), giving Cascade Christian another major individual title.
On the girls’ side, Cascade Christian showcased exceptional depth in the sprint events. Lindsey Hutcheson placed second in both the 50 Free (28.61) and 100 Free (1:06.35), while Katie Campbell and Ellie Williames added multiple top-six finishes, keeping the Challengers consistently scoring. In the 200 Free, Ella Price earned a podium finish with a strong third place.
Relay events proved to be a major strength for the Challengers. The girls’ 200 Free Relay team captured first place (2:01.82) in convincing fashion.
With multiple individual champions, a relay title, and an impressive number of top-five and scoring finishes across the board, Cascade Christian left Heath-Phoenix as one of the meet’s dominant programs — clearly establishing the Challengers as a force to be reckoned with moving forward.
