GCES Has A Student Newspaper
|
|
Three fifth-grade boys, Casey Anderson, Caleb Eaton, and Ayden Webb worked for two weeks on creating our very first GCES Monthly News! They came up with the ideas, interviewed students and staff members, and included jokes, prayer requests, and a special verse. They hand-delivered the freshly printed edition to each classroom.

Fellowship With 5th Grade Parents

|
After the fifth-grade student ministry chapel, the parents were invited to fellowship with one another. We offered coffee and light refreshments. It was wonderful for parents to connect with one another!

Commemorating the March 2nd birthday of children's author Theodore "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, it was "Read Across America" Day. For the entire week- the kindergarten, first, and second-grade students have been engaged in a number of fun reading-related activities.
Thursday, first graders dressed up as their favorite book characters, and teachers Miss Teterud and Mrs. Scaglione got into the act, dressed as Amelia Bedelia and the Cat In The Hat. Mrs. Todd read to our first-grade classes, and the day was highlighted with that great culinary delight......green eggs and ham! Our hats off to Mrs. Sandu and Mrs. McCollum for preparing lunch, and to our lunch volunteers Rebecca Murphy and Lindsey Mills, aka "Thing 3 and Thing 4."

Coming soon....Cascade Christian Middle School will present the musical "Jericho." Our music/drama teacher Jerry Wood announced the cast Friday, saying each student had a great audition.

Students with C's or better on their report cards, while also having less than five behavior forms were treated to an "excellence outing" Thursday. The sixth graders enjoyed a variety of board games, while the seventh and eighth graders got some extra free time outdoors. The highlight of the afternoon was the special treat of freshly made donuts from Snoball Donuts Food Truck!

The American Red Cross has a high need for life-saving blood, and the students of Cascade Christian had an opportunity Monday to help. A blood drive was conducted on campus, providing CCHS a chance to be a part of something bigger than themselves.
A big "thank you" to all who donated. You may never know this side of Heaven the difference it will make.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Thanks to a 76-54 victory over Westside Christian, the Cascade Christian Challengers have repeated as Oregon 3A boys basketball champions. Coming into the tournament as the number six seed, the Challengers were winners over third-seeded Dayton, second-seeded De La Salle North Catholic, and the first-seeded Eagles.
The championship is the fourth in program history for Coach Brian Morse and the Challengers- winning a 2A title in 2007, then capturing the crown in 2009, 2022 and 2023 at the 3A level.
It was a total team effort with big plays from all who played and the support of the young Challenger reserves who push the starters in practice and are ready when needed. Austin Maurer, who averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds for the tournament, and Drew Hall, who averaged 19 points and five assists at Coos Bay were named 1st Team All-Tournament.
Congratulations!
