Words of Inspiration

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS

Grandparent's Day

Our leaders of tomorrow often stand on the loving shoulders of unsung heroes who have provided wisdom and experience to give our young ones a firm footing. On Friday, the grandparents of Grace Christian Elementary students were honored with a precious time of recognition and fellowship.

Grandparents were warmly welcomed with a special chapel service that featured a heartfelt tribute to our military veterans and an inspiring message from one of our favorite speakers, "Quester" Rousseau Brasseur. Grandparents also joined students in the classroom for fun activities where some were interviewed about what life was like when they were young. Principal Teterud and Vice Principal Todd led campus tours, highlighting the incredible ways God is growing our schools. The morning concluded with a joyful time of refreshments and fellowship.

Occasions like this are so important in reminding kids of their grandparent's role in their lives. It also reminds our grandparents of the legacy they instill in their grandchildren. Often, they have a key role in a child's spiritual formation and offer a real-life example of how the Lord walks with us and shapes us to glorify Him.

To our grandparents who visited us on Friday, thank you for coming, and we hope you enjoyed your time here.

Mr. Sha's 5th Graders Hike Table Rock

One of our treasures in Southern Oregon is the Table Rocks, just outside of Central Point. As the weather improves, it's not uncommon to see kids from around the valley going on a hike and experiencing them up close.

On Wednesday, Mr. Sha's fifth graders hiked one of the Table Rocks. There's such a variety of plant and animal life, plus you get some wonderful views of the valley. Of course, sometimes it's just nice to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air with your friends, parents, and teachers.

Next week, Mrs. Lockwood's class takes their turn. It's sure to be a fun and informative experience.

2nd Grade & Kindergarten Art

Do you think the kids are getting excited about summer? Our second grade class sure is!

Displayed here are students' self-portraits underwater. Using crayon resist, our kids imagine diving into a little summer fun.

Further down in our photo display are some kindergarten kids with "live" self-portraits. What lovely smiles.

Among our great teachers at Grace Christian is Mrs. Fretz. She does a great job of nurturing the talents of our young students, some of whom go on the develop an incredible aptitude for art.

Cascade Students Interning at Grace

This year, we were fortunate to have Cascade High School interns serving at our elementary campus, and what a blessing they’ve been! On their last day of interning, they were surprised with a treat table as a sign of appreciation.

From grading papers and prepping classroom materials to providing one-on-one support and helping with small groups, these students have contributed in so many valuable ways. Their presence has made a real impact on both our students and staff. We’re so thankful for their willingness to serve and be part of our school community!

CASCADE CAMPUS NEWS

Performing Arts Night

One of our highlights from the month of May is our Performing Arts Night. Our middle school and high school students truly "band together" for a great night of music and fine arts displays.

Our kids stepped out of their comfort zones and treated the audience to several fine performances . The combined worship teams under the direction of Mrs. Reyes led off our evening, followed by our CCMS Choir, Advanced Band, combining with our CCHS Band, as directed by Mr. Wood.

The CCHS Band performed a set, featuring a mix of music that included John Williams, Mozart, and Grieg, then the Jazz Band belted out tunes by Bon Jovi, Berlin, Handy, and Mancini.

The night wrapped up with the band's rendition of "Sweet Caroline." Coming in, concert goers enjoyed seeing displays of a variety of art, plus the skillful work of our Furniture Restoration class.

Celebrating Sparrow Carsen

At a special assembly on Thursday, the students of Cascade Christian Schools gathered for one more opportunity to be an encouragement to our Sparrow, Carsen. Truth be told, I think this vibrant middle school student is as much an encouragement to us as we are to him.

At the assembly, our ambassadors Amelia, Alyse, and Mae shared that the kids didn't just meet their fundraising and volunteering goals, they blew them away! The support that went to assist Carsen and his family was the highest raised of Sparrow Clubs in Southern Oregon!

It's a long and often challenging journey Carsen is walking through. One can't say enough to know what it means to know people are praying for you and supporting you. A thank you note from his family says, "We cannot thank you enough for this incredible experience and true blessing. We have made deep connections with so many people who will definitely remain as lifelong relationships!"

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Student Spotlight: Adrianna Erickson Earns Black Belt

Congratulations to CCMS sixth grader Adrianna Erickson. The daughter of Travis and Kari Erickson has recently earned her black belt at America's Best Kids (ABK).

Anyone who has been down this path knows there's a serious commitment to practice and determination. For Adrianna, it all started when she attended a birthday party at another studio. She took a trial class, loved it, and has now been training for three years.

It's another step along the way for Adrianna. She now begins work on her second-degree black belt, which will take two years.

Keep shining, Adrianna! You're an inspiration.

PE: Handball Is Catching On

Our PE class is wrapping up the year with handball. It's a fast moving game that can become high scoring. It can look a bit like soccer, except kicking is not allowed.

Mrs. Mannenbach says the game is a hit with the kids. Handball is beginning to rival pickleball in terms popularity, she says.

Oregon Caves Field Trip

Nestled quietly in the Cave Junction area is another display of God's creation that is incredible to behold. The Oregon Caves contain awe-inspiring passages formed in marble. Described as a "solutional" cave, this area contains unique geological features that are just a short trip away from the city of Medford.

Several of our middle school students took a field trip to the Oregon Caves last week. The improved weather we enjoy this time of year, and the fact that school is wrapping up soon for summer, give the kids a chance to get out, while also learning more about this special place we live.

HIGH SCHOOL NEWS

Senior Awards Night

Our graduating class of 2025 is a distinguished group of young women and men with great possibilities in front of them. Consider some of the following facts:

  • $4,445,900 in scholarship funds awarded
  • 717 college credits earned
  • Six students earning 30 or more credits
  • Three students earning 40 or more credits

On Monday night, members of our upcoming senior class were recognized for their accomplishments. Their work has earned an impressive array of honors. We look forward to sharing specific details in a special edition of eTouch that will follow, a few days after graduation.

The First of the Lasts

Last week marked the beginning of "lasts" at Cascade Christian. With help from the ASB team, our seniors who purchased reserved parking painted over their unique reserved spaces to make way for next year's seniors. Speaking of our ASB, they held their last meeting as a team.

Elsewhere, the lunchtime Bible study in Mrs. Crenshaw's room met one more time to dive into the Word.

Finally, we also have a couple of photos from our Spring Sports Assembly. We gave recognition to our tennis, golf, track and field, and baseball teams, with a time of honoring the seniors from those teams.

No assembly is complete without some fun and games. We had a spirited game of musical chairs, plus a pie-eating contest.

Preparing and sending off our seniors is part of the process, but in another way, it's bittersweet, as we send off these young folks we've come to love so much.
