Morgan Territory Road Now Closed

Alternate routes for closure of Morgan Territory Road

Contra Costa County Public Works crews have been working steadily to clear mud covered roads and make repairs where flood and storm damage has caused problems. A new slide has prompted the closure of Morgan Territory Road between Oak Hill Lane and Williams Road to all traffic. Crews are monitoring the slide as it is continuing to develop. There is no access to Marsh Creek Road via Morgan Territory Road from south of Oak Hill Lane.  All traffic will need to access Morgan Territory Road from Manning Road and Livermore Avenue via Alameda County. At this time, there is no estimate as to when the roadway will reopen. Contra Costa Water District crews are working in the area as well to repair a waterline damaged in the slide area. Due to the rural nature of this roadway the only available public detour is to the south. This is a significant detour and drivers can expect substantial increases in travel times to points south of the slide should they normally access destinations via Marsh Creek Road.

The Board of Supervisors adopted a new resolution to proclaim a local emergency arising out of the damage caused by the series of storms in January and February 2017. This allows the County to potentially seek funding relief for response and damage repairs for emergency responses to the continuing storms during this time period.

With more rain expected this weekend, this is a good time to prepare for the next wave, checking rain gutters and storm drains for blockage. If you're concerned about potential flooding at your home or business, it's not too late to visit one of the sandbag stations located throughout the county. Please note that you'll need to bring a shovel, but bags and sand are available for free. Find out details regarding County sandbag sites at www.cccounty.us/sandbags .
