Worthington Christian Church

Volume 18, Issue 46 | November 12, 2025

The Holidays are upon us!

We know many of you are already starting to make your holiday plans, so we wanted to do our part and share what's coming up here at Worthington Christian Church!

Some of the events listed above have already been featured in the eView, so be sure to scroll down to learn more. We will (of course!) share more details about Christmas Eve in the coming weeks!

NOTE: To allow our staff to spend the holidays with their families, the building will be closed for Thanksgiving (November 27-28) and Christmas (from Noon on December 24 to Friday, January 2). We will still be checking our emails and voicemails during this time! If you need to contact us, please email us (info@worthingtoncc.org) or leave a voicemail (614-885-8389, ext. 100).

Holy Land Trip

From April 14 to 23, a group of twenty members and friends of WCC are registered to travel together to the Holy Land, hosted by Austin Seevers and the Haydens.

If you are interested in learning more about the trip, we invite you to attend a meeting to discuss it on Sunday, November 23, at 6:00 PM in rm. 132.

Operation Christmas Child

REMINDER: Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are due back this Sunday!

If you want to participate in Operation Christmas Child, but couldn't pick up an empty shoebox from the Atrium--don't worry! You can use any empty shoebox from home or fill a shoebox online!

For more information about Operation Christmas Child, please visit our website.

Volunteers Needed: Sunshine Cart Activity!

The Village is looking for new volunteers who may enjoy the Sunshine Cart Activity in our Health Care Center (HCC) on Fridays or Saturdays after 2:30 PM. This may involve weekly or bi-weekly commitments.

A Sunshine Cart is a mobile cart of treats, activities, and sometimes small gifts delivered directly to residents to brighten their day. The purpose is to lift spirits, particularly for residents who may feel unwell, isolated, or unable to leave their rooms easily.

The benefits of the program for residents include:

  • Social interaction: Provides a moment of one-on-one contact with a friendly volunteer, which can combat loneliness.
  • Empowerment: Giving residents a choice of what they receive offers them a sense of control.
  • Variety and stimulation: It can break up the monotony of the day and introduce new activities.
  • Enhanced well-being: The treats and gifts, however small, can create a burst of positive emotion.

To learn more, please contact WCV’s Volunteer Coordinator, Rene Lanam (614-846-6076).

Thanksgiving Meal

Join us on Wednesday, November 19 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM for our annual Worthington Christian Church Thanksgiving Dinner!

We will have a traditional Thanksgiving meal (turkey and all the fixings!) in the Youth Center. The cost is $5/person or $20/family; payment will be taken at the door. Kids under 10 eat free!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because food has to be purchased and prepared, the deadline to RSVP is Friday, November 14.

Don’t wait -- RSVP today!

Christmas Email Devotions!

Ladies, join us for an email devotional this Advent season beginning Monday, December 1.

Throughout December, we will prepare our hearts for Christmas as we reflect on the four gifts God gave us through the coming of His Son, Jesus: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. These email devotionals will include Scriptures relating to each gift and short videos from “The Bible Project.”

This year, we will do our Christmas email devotions a little differently! Instead of sending out daily devotions, we will send out one email each Monday in December. Each weekly devotion will contain five days of devotions. The first week of December, we will explore Biblical Hope, the second week Peace, the third week Joy, and the fourth week Love.

Cozy Christmas!

Ladies, join us on Saturday, December 6, at 10:00 AM in the Youth Center for a Christmas Brunch! The cost is $ 5 per person. You can pay online or at the door. All ladies (16 years and older) are welcome to join us! Bring a friend or co-worker!

We will serve traditional brunch foods and offer a coffee & hot chocolate bar. Author and speaker Danielle Macaulay will lead the morning’s program.

Our charity focus is the Ronald McDonald House.

Carols & Cookies

The Senior Adult Ministry invites you to the Youth Center on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, for an afternoon of traditional carols.

Get in the Christmas spirit with traditional Christmas carols sung from our hymnals! All ages are invited to the Youth Center for a merry time of fellowship, song, and rejoicing! Following will be a cookie reception with plenty of yummy treats to share.

NOTE: Participants are asked to bring a dozen cookies to share.

Winter Coat Drive

Winter is still a few weeks away, so now is a great time to clean out your coat closet and see what items you have that may deserve a new home!

From now until the end of the year, we're collecting new and gently used adult winter coats, hats, and gloves for the Columbus Dream Center. Adult sizes requested.

Please drop off your donation in the marked bin near the front doors beginning this Sunday.

Worthington Resource Pantry

We have partnered with the Worthington Resource Pantry since 2020 by collecting non-perishable food donations, toiletries, and various supplies as needed. If you can donate, please check the list below for current pantry needs:

  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Chicken or Tuna
  • Cereal
  • Rice (in 1lb. bags)
  • Diapers (sizes 2 and up)
  • Personal Hygiene items (maxi pads, tampons, shampoo, body wash, etc.)

NOTE: The WRP also accepts donations of dog and cat food.

Remember, you can drop off your donations at any time! A blue donation bin is available at each of the church's entrances, and we regularly empty the bins to make room for additional items.
