How to Help the Victims of Hurricane Helene |
Many of us have seen the images of the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Helene to the residents of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. Floods ripped through towns, wiping out roads and infrastructure and stranding anyone who calls those places home with limited supplies.
IDES (International Disaster Emergency Service) responded to the crisis immediately. They staged relief efforts in Florida at the Live Oak Christian Church, have begun staging help in upper East Tennessee, and are searching for a church in North Carolina to partner with to stage additional relief efforts.
| |
As with every disaster, IDES requires the generosity of others to help those in need. They need financial support, volunteers, and continued prayers. IDES has asked Worthington Christian Church to share its efforts in the hopes that all of us can help them in their work. One hundred percent of your donation will go toward their hurricane response.
Please visit their website to learn more about their relief efforts and how you can help. Please also continue to pray for the people affected by Hurricane Helene.

|
Next Monday, Oct. 7, from Noon to 6:00 PM, we will host a Blood Drive in the Atrium with the Red Cross.
Blood donations are vital in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. If you are eligible to donate, please participate in our blood drive next Monday.
If that date doesn't work with your schedule, please visit the Red Cross website to find a blood drive near you.

'Welcome Back' Reception for the Dennings! |
You're invited to join us on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10:00 AM to Noon for an informal 'Welcome Back' reception for Rob & Rachelle Denning at Worthington Christian Church!
Rob and Rachelle recently returned to their home in Arizona from their mission work in the Horn of Africa. Their work in Africa spanned ten years and two countries. They impacted the lives of hundreds of people and families and have been blessed to be part of a wonderful disciple-making movement.
You're invited to welcome them back to the States (and Columbus!) and hear an update on their work with the Alley people and their plans for the future! Light refreshments will be served in the Atrium.

Only one museum in America honors ALL veterans – from all branches of service and all the years of our nation’s proud history of military service in peacetime and wartime – the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in downtown Columbus.
On Wednesday, November 6, the Senior Adult Ministry will visit the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, and we would love for you to join us!
The National Veterans Memorial and Museum takes visitors on a narrative journey, telling individual stories and sharing veterans’ experiences throughout history.
| |
Our visit will last from 10:00 AM to Noon, and we will have a box lunch meal at the church at 12:30 PM. Tickets to the museum and boxed lunches will be provided free of charge.
Bus transportation will be available, but there are limited seats, so be sure to register early. The bus will leave the church parking lot at 9:30 AM to arrive at the museum when it opens at 10:00 AM. Following our two-hour visit, the bus will leave at Noon to bring us back to the church by 12:30 PM, where we will share lunch.
If you would like to stay at the museum for an extended time or prefer to drive yourself, please arrive at the museum's entrance by 10:00 AM to meet the group.

International Conference on Missions (ICOM) |
The International Conference on Missions (ICOM) is meeting from Thursday, November 14, to Saturday, November 16 in Lexington, KY. This is a great chance for you and your friends/family to learn more about international missions!
ICOM exists to encourage, equip, and enlist workers for the harvest, and Worthington Christian Church has supported them for several years. In an effort to get as many WCC members and friends as possible to attend this year's conference, the Missions Ministry is offering a church-wide registration code that allows individuals or families to register for FREE.
| |
To attend for FREE, simply go to the ICOM website, fill out the registration information, and include the code 'entrusted24'!
More information about ICOM can be found on their website.
