ANNOUNCEMENTS
Adult Ed continues this evening, at 7 pm in the Education Wing.  We are using Bishop Curry's invitation to grow more deeply with Jesus Christ at the center of our lives, so we can bear witness to His way of love in and for the world.  We will be following The Way of Love: Practices for Jesus-Centered Life, resources that outline a Rule for the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement.  Please join us each Thursday through February 28th.

Father David will be away January 30 through February 10 participating in continuing education.

Sweet Deal:  Pizza Lunch and Board Games after Sunday's 10:30 service, in the Parish Hall.  Bring a favorite game to play and, maybe a snack to share, or just join us for fun and fellowship.

Change of Date - Annual Meeting February 24, one service at 9:30 am. Potluck contributions for lunch after service.  Reports from Committee chairs are due to the office (Word documents only) no later than Monday, February 11 for inclusion in the printed Annual Report.
2019 Vestry Nominees
Jose Luis Obando  -- Jose Luis Obando brings the Latino flare to Good Shepherd! He is a devoted father, husband and son. He enjoys all outdoor activities and every genre of music. He is the Chief Maintenance Engineer at Tilden Gardens, Inc. and looks forward to serving on the Vestry.

Boma Fubara  -- I have been attending Good Shepherd for about three years now. I have been working with the grounds maintenance group, weeding and gardening and the like. Not that I am a good gardener, just that I really like being outdoors, especially when the weather is good. At my former church in North Carolina, I was involved in many things. I did serve on the vestry for one term. Afterwards, I made the decision that having attained a certain age, it would be good to sit back, and let the younger people take over the oversight of the church community. To put things in perspective, I am a grandmother. I have a grandson that draws me to Southern Maryland one weekend or two a month. I hope to be able to make myself useful to this congregation.

Joe Burckle  -- I have been attending Good Shepherd Episcopal Church since 2004 when Melissa and I moved to the area. We attend the 10:30 service at Good Shepherd with our two children, Ruby and Ben. During my time at the church I have participated in many of the activities, events, and committees of the church at various times. These include participation in Social Ministry events, Adult Education, Landscape committee, Finance committee, Building and Grounds, Sunday school, and serving on Vestry on two previous occasions. Outside of my activities at Good Shepherd I am an Urban Forester in the District of Columbia. I have a strong interest in environmental issues and the outdoors. I hope that my interests and experiences both at Good Shepherd and beyond will provide a valuable contribution to the vestry and I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to serve Good Shepherd.

Junior Warden nominee

Jennifer Hendricks  -- My family came to Good Shepherd approximately 15 years ago. We've been involved in a variety of committees within the church over the years. I have served Good Shepherd leading the Stewardship Committee, as a Vestry member and as Senior Warden in the past. In the secular world, I am a Social Worker at the NIH Clinical Center.

Saint Luke Food Pantry -  The government furlough may be over - for now - but the impact of delayed and non-existent paychecks continues to result in an increased demand on food pantries around our area.  Plus, we do not want to forget those whose food insecurity is not directly impacted by recent decisions regarding the government.  As a result, where we are able, let us continue to be generous in our contributions of nutritious staples to Saint Luke Food Pantry.  Thank you!

Boxes of envelopes for cash contributions are available on the ushers' desk in the narthex for those wishing to use them.

A New Way to Contribute to Good Shepherd - Good Shepherd has recently opened a brokerage account with TD Ameritrade, an online broker. This means that parishioners who wish to donate stock, bonds, or mutual fund shares to the church have an easy way to do so. If investments are held in a brokerage account, your broker can transfer them to Good Shepherd's TD account, for which Lynn Hutcheson has the account number. If you have paper shares that you wish to donate, you can take them to one of TD's offices to begin the procedure. If you have questions, please direct them either to Lynn or to Kirk Franklin.
