Social Justice Brunch survey results are in.   Many thanks to everyone who provided feedback on our March 31 Social Justice Brunch.  24 people completed our event survey - 100% of whom said we should do it again (and we will!).  See the complete survey results  here.
Hardcopies are available on the usher's table in the narthex.  Questions or comments?  Contact Deborah Beebe, Shaun Hardy, Kathryn McMahon, or Lynn Wood on our Social Ministries Team.

Saint Luke Food Pantry - With the summer heat upon us and the summer school break to begin soon, let's focus on the following:  cans of chicken and tuna; peanut butter and tubes of jelly; canned fruit; nutritious cold cereals; easily prepared meals, such as pasta and sauce, separate and canned; rice and black beans; and hearty soups containing vegetables.  These are just some ideas.  We want to keep in mind that in the summer, older children might find themselves responsible for making sure that they, their hard-working parents, and younger siblings are fed.  Shop sales to get more for your dollar.
13th Pledge  -- As discussed at the Annual Meeting, if you are able to make a 13th Pledge to support the on-going financial needs of Good Shepherd, please fill out a pledge card (found on the table in the Narthex) and place it in the offering plate or in the lockbox on the Narthex table. A 13th pledge means pledging an extra amount in addition to your regular pledge to help Good Shepherd.  Thank you for your continued financial support of Good Shepherd!

A Sad Farewell - The Episcopal Center for Children is closing operations on June 14 as a therapeutic school despite their best efforts to raise funds and increase enrollment.  Good Shepherd has been a faithful partner of the ECC during its years as a residential treatment facility for children and since 2003 when it became a therapeutic day center and school for elementary and middle school students.  Good Shepherd's connection to the ECC began through a parishioner in the 1970's.  Irene Fletcher, Patricia Dorn, and Janice Ezeani have been faithful members of the ECC Auxiliary for a number of years, following in the path of other parishioners before them.  Good Shepherd members have supported the ECC in its fund raising efforts, such as the book festival at Politics and Prose and the lovely afternoon tea in the fall of 2018.  We have also provided nutritious snacks for the children during our annual Good Shepherd month.

Summer French classes begin July 8 - Yes, your brain can learn French!  Want to get ready for the trip to France? Or would you just like to have some fun and watch your brain (painlessly) acquire French? French classes continue at Good Shepherd this summer on Wednesdays at 2 pm (Advanced Beginner/Intermediate level). Several Good Shepherd parishioners attend the Advanced Beginner class at my house on Mondays at 9:45 am. There are many other classes & levels available, including evening online classes (via Zoom video conferencing). More details at elevateeducationconsulting.com/your-brain-can-learn-french. Scholarship help/sliding scale available-don't let cost be an obstacle. Want some more good news? There are no homework assignments & no grammar exercises.

Mark your calendars! The dates are set for next year's pilgrimage to southwest France. More details will be coming next month.
