Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner, 5 pm, tomorrow, Thursday, November 28.

Sunday, December 1 is the first Sunday in Advent and the beginning of a new Christian year.

A Message from Father David
We are preparing for the nomination of new members to the vestry.  If you are approached to serve, please give serious consideration to saying "Yes!" Serving on the vestry is an important ministry and an opportunity to work with truly gifted and fun people.  We begin each meeting with a reflection on the following Sunday's gospel and we end on time so come join us! As part of this year's nominating process we are also filling the Senior/Rector's Warden position.  If you have any questions or would like to discuss serving as the Senior Warden, please contact me or Deena Groshong.  David+

Crossway Community Christmas Tree is Here! This Sunday, December 1, brings your annual  opportunity to pick a tag, purchase the item requested, and place it UNWRAPPED under the tree in the Narthex by Sunday, December 15.  Gift options were provided by the Crossway Community staff and are aimed toward both mothers and  children.  For almost 30 years, Crossway Community's program has offered supportive housing, information and referral services to single mothers seeking an education and job placement.  It is a strength-based, family centered, Montessori inspired community. Questions? You may contact Nina Scott at nina4scott@gmail.com

Shepherd's Table and Debbie Beebe Thank You for your generosity in bringing gloves, scarves, hats, warm socks, and underwear for the clients of Shepherd's Table. Thanks to both shoppers and creators.  Thank you Father David for blessing our contributions, both those brought forward during the offertory and those looking on from the back of church that just didn't fit in one container -- a good problem for us to have!!!

The Needlers would like to thank everyone who helped with the Blanket Project.  That includes Susan Callahan who found out about the project and proposed that we participate, and all of those who donated the kits used to make the blankets, and of course everyone who cut and tied the 20 blankets sent to San Diego.  It is our hope that the 20 blankets we made will be a comfort to the 20 children who receive them.  Thank you Good Shepherd.

Saint Luke Food Pantry - Volunteers filled bags for the special Thanksgiving outreach.  What this means is that the shelves once again need to be filled.  Grocery stores--Here we come!

Christmas FlowersIf you would like  to remember or celebrate someone and contribute toward the Christmas flowers, please fill out a "Christmas flower envelope" (on the desk in the Narthex). Please fill out the dedication information and place the envelope in the collection plate or the lock box. Donations are $50.

December 8 - Advent Holiday Festival

Fall Cleanup, December 15 after the 10:30 am service. Lunch will be provided.  Bring rakes and tarps for leaf raking and cleaning supplies for indoor cleaning.

Simulcast Christmas Service, Saturday, December 21 at 9:30 am.  A tradition of the season that brings hope and joy to all who participate either in person or online.  The 13th annual Simulcast Service takes place between the Washington National Cathedral and the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church located in Bethlehem, Palestine. Readings, prayers and carols in both English and Arabic alternate back and forth between Washington and the "Little Town of Bethlehem" in the joining together through modern technology of worshippers around the world.  As residents of the larger DC community, we have two options to participate:
Option One is to be at the Cathedral in person with an opportunity to view the annual display of Nativity scenes and shop in the Cathedral stores following the one hour service.
Option Two is to watch online by accessing either cathedral.org or youtube.com/wncathedral For additional information, please contact Greg or Lynn Wood at greglynn2@verrizon.net.  Greg and Lynn are both members of the Holy Land Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, which is responsible for coordinating this Simulcast Christmas Service.

It's never too late to pledge!  Pledge cards can be found on the table in the Narthex. Please fill out a pledge card and place it in the offering plate.  Your pledge will help plant seeds so Good Shepherd's vision and mission will continue to grow.  Thank you to all those who have pledged to date:
