Just a reminder that we are planning to spread the wood chip playmat that is being delivered this week  on Saturday at  9:00am.
There is a conflict with sandwich making for the homeless shelter that day, but I am hoping to pick up some volunteers either before or after that event.
Please come and help out if you can.  Bring tools to spread the wood chips, particularly wheel barrows, shovels, rakes, and pitchforks.

Kick-Off Sunday -- September 9th - Sunday School begins; Ministry Fair (sign up for a Committee -- try something new!); lunch will be served.

Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ? - I will, with God's help.
- Words of the Service of Holy Baptism and our commitment as followers of Jesus.  This is why we do what we do as a faith community to reach out to the world around us.  The Social Ministries Team invites you to stop by our table at the September 9 Ministries Fair to see how Good Shepherd responds to this commitment.

Registration for Oct 19-21 SHRINE MONT Parish Retreat begins this Sunday - Join us for a fun and relaxing time in Orkney Springs, VA. Contact Susan Callahan or Nell Jeter for more information. Registration forms are on the desk in the narthex. All payments and registration forms must be in by September 30. Place in the lock box on the ushers' desk.

Good Shepherd Church will be hiring a Nursery attendant to work on Sundays from 9 am to 12:30 pm. We need someone who is child care certified and CPR trained. If you are aware of someone interested please have them call the church office 301-593-3282.

Saint Luke Food Pantry - The Social Ministries Team invites you to celebrate this Sunday by bringing in at least one nutritious staple for Saint Luke Food Pantry.  Next Sunday would be good, too!

Personal Toiletries for Shepherd's Table - Some of us have items from stays in motels that we have not used - soap, shampoo, lotion, etc. - or unused personal toiletries that we purchase for such trips.  Bring them in to the box at the back of church.  They are gratefully used by clients of Shepherd's Table who access their shower facilities.

Good Shepherd's Golden Oldies Recipes -  Celebrating our 50th year at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs VA, we are creating a book favorite recipes from the past. Do you have a memorable recipe from the past you would like to include? We will accept all recipes preferably home made from scratch. Photos are welcome and a short origin story. We plan to have these fun memories available by Christmas. Proceeds will be contributed to Good Shepherd Shrine Mont scholarship fund. Please send 1 recipe per household. Submissions are to be in Word format no later than WORD 2010. Email as an attachment to njeter@aol.com. Deadline for submission November 1.  Questions? Ask Nell Jeter 301-593-9027.
