Good Shepherd Mission Statement
We are a people who hear the Good Shepherd's voice.
We know by faith that we belong to God.
We are called to seek and love our neighbors as God loves us!

Dear Good Shepherd,
On Sunday, as we celebrate All Saints, we will renew our Baptismal Covenant together. We'll promise once more to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves, and to strive for justice and peace among all people, respecting the dignity of every human being. These are not promises we keep only inside these walls. They follow us into the rest of our week, and that includes the voting booth.
Why should Christians, and Episcopalians in particular, care about voting? Because the decisions made in our towns, our state, and our nation shape the lives of our neighbors: whether children are fed, whether the sick are cared for, whether the stranger is welcomed, whether creation is protected. Voting is one of the most concrete ways we can take part in that work. Former Presiding Bishop Michael Curry put it plainly: voting is "a Christian obligation." Our wider church calls this voting faithfully. It is not about telling anyone how to vote. It is about showing up, praying, informing our consciences, and bringing our whole selves, faith included, to the choices before us.
This morning I early voted at the Wheaton rec center. There, in line with neighbors of every age and background, I felt a deep gratitude for this gift that so many fought and sacrificed to secure and to widen. It felt like a small act of hope, and like one more way of keeping the promises I made at the font.
If you live in Maryland and haven't voted yet, there's still time: today is the last day of early voting, and centers are open until 8 p.m. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are eligible to vote, I hope you'll go, and I hope you'll help a neighbor get there too. Then come Sunday, let's gather with all the saints and say once again, "I will, with God's help."
Grace and peace,
Sarah +

Our Annual Pledge Campaign begins this Sunday, November 1! Our theme this year is “Upholding One Another in Love.” Join us in worship at 10:30 a.m. to learn more and stay for coffee hour hosted by the Vestry. Letters inviting you to make your pledge were mailed this week and should be arriving soon.
Shrine Mont was so much fun this year with lots of sunshine, laughter, and joyous love! Best of all was being with our new rector Sarah, her father and son Sammie! Climbing up to the cross had special meaning this year…God is with us always..alleluia!

Good Shepherd will celebrate All Saints Day on Sunday November 1, 2026. This is a day in the church year when we traditionally honor loved ones who have died. This year in the narthex, we will have a table set up for you to add pictures and names of any loved ones you would like to remember.
Save the Date! Thanksgiving Dinner at Good Shepherd will be held on Thursday, November 26 at 5 p.m. We’d love to have you (and any friends or family) over for a shared meal and good fellowship during this festive annual tradition. Over the coming weeks be on the lookout for a sign up sheet in the narthex, an evite, or be in touch with Joe Burckle directly via email with any ideas or suggestions.
Hunger Globe Update - Our weekly contributions to our outreach Globe are more needed than ever. Our three semi-annual recipients are Shepherd's Table, MUM (Ministries United Montgomery), and Arrived. The latter is a longtime recipient with a new name. Their mission is more essential than ever. Contact Lynn or Shaun if you wish more specifics.
Wednesday Bible Study - 11:30 am with Deacon Linda Mahler

From EPPN Office of Government Relations: Join us each week as we share new prayers for the vulnerable among us facing challenges, fears, and threats. We will name many of the harms unfolding and acknowledge what is being erased, lost, and threatened. These prayers are not a replacement for action; they are meant to offer space for grounding and discernment as we seek to bear one another’s burdens in the love and way of Christ. Join by Zoom (click here) each Monday at 11:45 a.m. to hear the prayers aloud, in the context of a simple liturgy, prayed by members of the Community of Francis and Clare. Click here to read the prayers for this week.
Shepherd’s Table is asking Good Shepherd for volunteers. Please follow this link for opportunities to volunteer or reach out to Daniella Burgos dburgos@shepherdstable.org. Thank you!
