GOOD SHEPHERD EPISCOPAL CHURCH

The Day of Pentecost

June 8, 2025

We will be celebrating with Transfiguration Church via Zoom at 9:00 am, and in-person at Good Shepherd Church 10:30 am.

Good Shepherd Mission Statement

We are a people who hear the Good Shepherd's voice.

We know by faith that we belong to God.

We are called to seek and love our neighbors as God loves us!

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Food Drive Collection- Saturday, June 7, 11am

Pentecost is Sunday, June 8th! We will have our annual Pentecost picnic! Bring your favorite dishes, desserts, and sides and the Vestry will provide drinks and biodegradable cutlery and napkins. We have invited our new congregation Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal Casa de Dios. Let’s pray for good weather so we can eat outside!!

June 10th- Pentecost Witness for a Moral Budget

A public procession and vigil will be led by clergy and congregants, religious and lay leaders at the U.S. Capitol before a key Senate vote on a reconciliation package that threatens to slash care for the sick, in Medicaid, and feeding the hungry, in SNAP, and other vital social programs that support and uplift vulnerable people among us. Some of us at Good Shepherd plan to participate. To learn more, click here. Speak to Deacon Linda if you think you may want to take part in the demonstration.

Lunch bunch- Wednesday, June 11 at 12:30. Please bring a favorite dish to enjoy and share!

George and Anna Sabbatical- As many of you know, we've been working on a plan for a year-long sabbatical for a while now... and everything is finally in place! We'll be leaving for France on July 4 and returning to the US in mid-August 2026. Amy Ackerberg-Hastings and Peter Asche will be replacing me at the organ during my absence. The choir will be on break for the most part, but may sing as occasion warrants. We are deeply grateful to the Vestry of Good Shepherd and to St. Andrew's Episcopal School for giving us the leave of absence we need to do this! It's been a long-time dream of ours to spend a full year in France. We have a church home at the Protestant Church in Agen. The people there are warm and inviting, and remind us very much of our beloved Good Shepherd Church. Of course we'll stay in touch while we are gone, and we hope that you will remember to be in touch with us as well. Please come and join us at our house for an "À bientôt" party on June 29 from 4-8 pm. If you're interested in coming (and we hope you are!), just email the office or talk to us at church. We'll make sure you get all the details. We'd love to see you there! Love and blessings,

Anna & George

Senior Warden’s Message

Collect from our prayer meeting on ‘courage’:

Loving God, we come to You today, seeking the strength to navigate transitions with grace and confidence. Grant us the courage to step outside our comfort zones and to embrace new opportunities. Help us to see change not as a threat but as a chance for renewal and transformation. May our courage in the face of change inspire others to embrace their own paths with confidence. Amen.

Plans and Progress for the Construction of the new

Evergreen Montessori School

Plans: The Vestry has established Team leads (vestry members) to handle all different aspects regarding the construction which begins after Labor Day for the new Evergreen Montessori School in the old building! The Team leads will be reaching out to find volunteers to help. Team leads are: Music (files, robes, chimes, etc. in Ed wing): Liz (George will be consulted/or on committee); Office consolidation: Debbie; Computers and retiring server(s): Vanvisa and Eric; Boy Scouts, Panda Camp and other congregations: Debbie; Team for the basement: Diane.

Progress: We have been busy 'downsizing' and have multiple file cabinets, a desk, and a bookcase (from music files and the Admin office) being stored in the Ed wing while being advertised on Facebook Marketplace by Diane Janesko. If you know anyone who would be interested, let Diane know and if anyone can help Diane with advertising and/or with scheduling pickups, she would appreciate your help!!
