In sacred Hindu scriptures, did you know that all things are created through the playtime of the gods? Not the intention or the planning or the due diligence – but the sheer ebullient playtime of the holy. What lessons can we take from this story? From the ways in which play creates something new, just as much as planning ever could – and maybe more.

June's Designated Gift Organization is Safe Streets
Support Safe Streets to save black lives, act on the 8th Principle, and build Beloved Community. Whatever your stand on the 8th Principle, your support for Safe Streets has been building our Beloved Community with Baltimore’s McElderry Park for three years. Your presence in our Beloved Community in McElderry Park is important. So keep your eye out for opportunities to meet our sisters and brothers there.
In the meantime, you can support Safe Streets throughout June by making an online donation here, Text-to-Give (732-56, then RRUUC) or through check donations to RRUUC (designate "Prevent Gun Violence"). Thank you.
Distribute food this Sat., Jun. 5, 7:30am at Clifton Park Baptist Church (CPBC). Join us at 7:30am at CPBC, 8818 Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring, the first Saturday of the month, to distribute food alongside members of our Engaging Communities pathway, River Road middle-schoolers, and volunteers from CPBC. We also distribute food at 8:30am, Tues.-Thurs, every week. Join us! You may also want to consider helping CPBC buy baby food and baby wipes for these families with an online donation to "Outreach".
As part of our ongoing commitment to the activists who are interrupting gun violence on the streets of our cities, we are saddened yet honored to memorialize the names of those in our area lost to gun violence over the last week. These lives continue to matter: Baltimore: Erik Wilson, Clinton Gray, Cincere Johnson, Harry Prather, John Hall III, Robert Lee Jones, Dontee Nicholson, and Tayvon Kenan. District of Columbia: Kassius-Kohn Glay, Bret Desmarteau, Harold Biddiex, and Tyrone Curtis. Fort Washington: name not released. Every life lost to gun violence shatters the world for each of us, and every life saved by those who interrupt the violence helps knit us back together.
