Our Stewardship Kickoff is this Sunday. We’ll lift up all the ways in which each of us as individuals and as a congregation are meeting the moment each and every day. As we kick off our stewardship campaign, we’ll ponder what it is that community means to us, especially in times like these.
Celebratory Concert This Sun., Feb. 28, at 3pm
As the three Potomac Partnership congregations begin annual stewardship campaigns, we’re joining forces to offer a kickoff concert with the popular musicians Peter Mayer, Emma’s Revolution, and Lea Morris. Please tune in this Sunday at 3pm and join River Road, Cedar Lane, and Fairfax for a musical celebration of our shared theme of Meeting the Moment! Streaming live on the UU Fairfax website here.

February's Designated Gift Organization: UU Legislative Ministry (UULM-MD)
UULM-MD envisions a Maryland free of oppression and injustice, where all are guaranteed basic human and civil rights. This vision is addressed by alerting, educating, activating and facilitating a statewide UU base to advocate for legislation before the Maryland General Assembly each year. Recent issues include health care reform, ending marriage discrimination against same-sex couples, global warming, and abolition of the death penalty. Please support the UULM-MD by giving generously throughout the month by contributing online, Text-to-Give (732-56 then RRUUC), or by check to RRUUC with UULM-MD in the memo line. Thank you for your generosity!
UUSJ Immediate Action. Support raising the minimum wage to $15 nationally. People need a living wage. It has not been raised since 2007, under the Bush administration. Money earned is quickly circulated through the community and fuels economic growth, while helping children and families afford food, heat, and housing. Use the easy to complete Action Alert here. Share the link with friends in other states to convince their Senators! The Earth Ministry is asking members of RRUUC to support three important climate and climate justice bills which are being debated now in Annapolis. The first two bills - Climate Solutions Now and Transportation Safety and Investment Act - have been selected by the UU Legislative Ministry of Maryland as top climate priorities in the 2021 session. As part of our ongoing commitment to the activists who are interrupting gun violence on the streets of our cities, we are saddened yet honored to memorialize the names of those in our area lost to gun violence over the last week. These lives continue to matter: Baltimore: Justin Bucalo, name not released. Capitol Heights: Two names not released. District of Columbia: Geno Freeman, Youness Zarouaki, Dalonte McLean, Diamonte Green, Cierra Young. Every life lost to gun violence shatters the world for each of us, and every life saved by those who interrupt the violence helps knit us back together.
