Volume 9, Issue #14 - April 4, 2019

In the name of Christ, we embrace all people to be nourished and empowered by the Holy Spirit to love and serve the world.
A Lenten Reflection

He looked in my eyes with love so clear,
that I almost forgot my shame and my fear.
But habits die hard and pride won’t forget,
so I covered my face with pain and regret.
“Please don’t look at me, my edges are rough.
How, for you, could I ever be enough?”
He tipped up my chin, and brushed back my hair.
“Please look at me, Love,” He whispered with care.
“I’ll tell you the truth, please don’t be afraid.
You’re always enough, that’s how you were made.
But look far from yourself so you can see,
how enough you are by looking at Me.”

On March 31, the Vestry met with The Rev. Canon Elise Johnstone, who heads the Office of Transition Ministry for the Diocese of Lexington. She explained to us in detail the results of our Holy Cow Congregation Assessment Survey.

Surveys were provided to 152 parishioners, with 81 people responding, equaling a 53 percent response rate. If we consider our average Sunday attendance of 101, the response rate is 80 percent.

This large number of responses gives us a much better picture for helping us plan for our future. The survey results will be shared with future candidates so they can understand our Ascension community.

The Vestry will be scheduling time after Easter to provide an opportunity for you to hear the results of the survey and to ask questions about the results. In the meantime, the Vestry is answering some very specific questions about our worship and ministries. These answers will also be shared with future candidates.

We want to thank all of you who completed the survey. Your answers are invaluable to our search for our new priest.
