Volume 9, Issue #8 - February 28, 2019

In the name of Christ, we embrace all people to be nourished and empowered by the Holy Spirit to love and serve the world.

As a reminder, this Saturday, March 2, is the 123rd Diocesan Convention, being held at Georgetown College. Please hold our Lay Deputies and Clergy in your prayers as we meet to do the business of the diocese. Lay Deputies are: Leah MacSwords, Laura Buffenmyer, Shannon Lancaster, and Pauline Van Horn. We will be available on Sunday during the Preacher's Forum and at Coffee Hour to share information.

As several of you have heard by now, Mother Nancy Farley will be leaving Ascension at the end of April (see below). Mother Nancy will be greatly missed, and I am eternally grateful for her ministry to the congregation and as my colleague. Her selfless work has strengthened our spiritual core and our community fabric. More information about a proper farewell will be forthcoming. Sharing from her:
Dear Father Jessee,

As is the custom and tradition of the Episcopal Church that all associate clergy resign when the Rector of a parish leaves, and as I am currently in the process of moving, I hereby give notice of my resignation, as of April 30, 2019. My last Sunday will be April 28, 2019.

Please know of my deep gratitude for my time at Ascension. It was a joy to serve under you and to engage the congregation.

Yours in Christ,
The Rev. Nancy Stone Farley

The Ordination will be followed by a reception in the parish hall. In order to help plan for the number of bulletins and amount of food for the reception, please let us know if you plan to attend.

"Holy Cow!" Survey:

We are inviting Ascension parishioners to complete the Church Assessment Tool (CAT), from Holy Cow! Consulting, an on-line instrument that will help our leaders gauge the strength, vitality, and trends in our church. The information gained from this assessment will be valuable in helping the Vestry as we make decisions about the future of the Church of the Ascension.
Parishioners will soon receive an email with a unique link to the CAT. Beginning on  Friday, March 1 , you may go online by clicking on the link provided, and tell us about your experiences in and priorities for Ascension. Please do not discuss the survey or your answers with others, as this may influence their answers.
If you need a paper copy, please come to the office; we will provide one for you along with a self-addressed stamped return envelope.
All answers are strictly anonymous. We have no way of matching any assessment to a particular person, so please feel free to candidly share your perceptions, opinions and experiences. Our future together is dependent on your participation and honest answers.
If you have questions, please contact:
