Volume 7, Issue #35 -  August 31, 2017

In the name of Christ, we embrace all people to be nourished and empowered by the Holy Spirit to love and serve the world.
LABOR DAY

The parish office will be closed on Friday, September 1, and Monday, September 4. Morning Prayer will begin as usual at 9:15 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 5.

Episcopal Relief & Development (ERD) is currently working with The Rt. Rev. Andy Doyle, Bishop of Texas, and local and state recovery authorities in assessing the greatest needs of the people of southeastern Texas, and how ERD can assist in meeting needs for Rescue, Relief, and Recovery. As Harvey moves, ERD will also be looking at the possible needs in parts of Louisiana affected by this storm.

About Giving to ERD: We encourage you to send your donation to the ERD Hurricane Harvey Response Fund through Ascension: make your check payable to 'Church of the Ascension' and write "ERD" or "Hurricane Harvey" in the memo area. Drop your check in the collection plate or mail it to Ascension at 311 Washington Street, Frankfort KY 40601. We will pass on 100% of contributions received directly to ERD. This pass-through process allows us to accurately record our congregation's outreach, which is then reflected in our annual parochial report, and in ERD and diocesan records.

You may also donate online at http://www.episcopalrelief.org/hurricane-harvey-response (At the bottom of the donation screen, check the option to supply your church information - name and city/state - for the same tracking purpose as above.)
PLEASE NOTE:
Sunday morning breakfast service will begin no later than 8:50 a.m.,
in order to allow time for people to eat and make it to other activities.

ADULTS - "The Preacher's Forum" gathers every Sunday at  9:15 a.m. Contact Father Neat ( rector@ascensionfrankfort.org ) for more information.

CHOIR REHEARSALS will begin on Tuesday, September 5, at 6:45 p.m. in the choir room. Please plan to be there – and better yet, bring singing friends with you! Contact John Martin, music@ascensionfrankfort.org

CHRISTIAN FORMATION / SUNDAY SCHOOL for children of all ages will begin this Sunday, August 27. This year’s curriculum will utilize Godly Play lessons and incorporate music in various forms. All children participating in the Sunday morning classroom and nursery Christian Formation Program are to gather in the Parish Hall.

At 9:15, all participants, leaders and learners will go upstairs to the classrooms together as a group. At this point, the children are under the custody of our Christian Formation leaders. If a child arrives later, the parent/guardian is requested to walk the child to the classroom. All children will remain under the supervision of the leaders until 10:15. At that time, Godly Play 1 learners that go to the nursery will be escorted to the nursery by the leader, unless the parent has given different instructions. All other learners will come back to the Parish Hall as a group to be returned to the custody of their parent(s) or guardian.

As the keepers of God’s children, we need to think about safety issues at all times. Children should remain under the supervision of a Christian Formation leader until they are returned to the custody of parent, guardian, or another appropriately designated adult.
