Book of the Month | Unlocking Creativity
Unlocking Creativity, by Michael Roberto, discusses six mindsets that we must shift in order to think creatively and constructively. In this month’s book review, Alex Urrea unpacks how these mindsets relate to education management contexts, and how educational leaders can reflect on them to embrace new ideas, escape old ones, and rethink learning to drive sustainable improvements in their schools, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Webinar of the Month |  Safeguarding Back to School: Principles to Guide a Healthy Opening to Classrooms During COVID-19
The transition back to school this year will be unlike any in history. In this webinar, hosted by Digital Promise, leaders of the American Federation of Teachers and Brooklyn Laboratory Charter Schools in New York City discuss key questions we must all consider as we begin the journey back to school–from the school bus ride to the dismissal bell–and provide solutions on what schools need to do to offer a safe environment for teaching and learning. A strong reopening plan is crucial to the safety of families, workers, and school communities.

Podcast of the Month |  Instructional Design for Distance Learning
edWeb has launched edWeb podcasts this month, featuring “Instructional Design for Distance Learning,” with Michelle Luhtala, Library Department Chair, New Canaan High School, CT, and Dr. Brenda Boyer, Teacher Librarian, Kutztown School District, PA, plus a number of additional recordings. edWebbers can now listen to webinars on the go in podcast form, on Apple Podcasts or Stitcher.

Stat of the Month | Teachers in majority minority schools lack the technology infrastructure and supports they need for effective digital learning.
Project Tomorrow has created an infographic on “Equity in Educational Opportunities” that shows the differences in experiences between students and teachers in majority minority schools compared to students and teachers in majority white schools. 59% of teachers in majority minority schools said they need a classroom set of mobile devices for students compared to 38% of teachers in majority white schools.
