Calendar Corner for edHEALTH Member-Owner Schools

Member-Owners: Save June 12, 2025, for Us!

Once again, we will all convene for edHEALTH's Annual Member-Owner Meeting at The Connors Center in Dover, Massachusetts. Your official calendar invitation will arrive next year. In the meantime, please "pencil" edHEALTH in for the second Thursday of June.

What's New in the edHEALTH Portal

This month, you will find your 2024 third quarter actuarial reports posted under "files."

If you offer your faculty and staff edHEALTH’s complementary clinical support program, you will find assorted vendor marketing materials to promote it in the Communications section. We also added a sample article for you to use in your benefits newsletter or on an intranet post.

Member-Owners: We heard you

At our June annual meeting, you asked that we focus on more wellness opportunities. Look for two challenges in 2025 and more communications available to share with your faculty and staff.

Be sure to check out our new Health and Wellness Communications Calendar in the portal. We created this guide with your direct input to help make planning a year of wellness communications a little easier.

Focus on Wellness: Nationally Recognized Wellness Platform Now Available to all edHEALTH Schools

At edHEALTH, we prioritize supporting our schools' health and wellness initiatives. We strive to complement the robust programs already in place on individual campuses and help increase efforts at schools that may not have such an established or formal program. From our annual walking challenge to ready-to-use communications templates, we want to encourage our schools’ faculty and staff to be as active and healthy as possible.

Great news for all edHEALTH educational institutions! We are thrilled that one of our valued TPA partners has opened its Living Well platform, now powered by WebMD, to all edHEALTH schools—regardless of a school’s health plan offerings.

“We are so appreciative that we can offer the expansive WebMD wellness platform to all our schools. WebMD is a clear leader in health education and wellness,” says edHEALTH Vice President Nancy McConaghy.

“There are so many resources available on the platform. Beyond the content hub, which features a mix of articles and videos, users can create personal plans to manage conditions like asthma, diabetes, and coronary heart disease or build back health and balanced diets. They choose the areas of focus for their dashboard. Our TPA also hosts an array of its own virtual health and wellness sessions that are free for everyone to attend. There is truly something for everyone,” she adds.

Every educational institution has its own wellness commitment

While edHEALTH schools unite as part of the larger collaborative, they have their own goals for bringing together their faculty and staff for wellness programs on their respective campuses. Some of our schools have set up customized programs that involve an array of challenges and rewards—most of which are based on our TPA’s custom WebMD platform. For our schools that don’t offer a customized program or a team dedicated to employee health and wellness programs, we hope the WebMD platform will be an easy tool to promote wellness and inspire greater activity among faculty and staff.

Our communications templates and wellness challenges are designed to complement or expand upon your schools’ existing offerings.

How edHEALTH will promote the platform

Last month, we hosted a demo at our edHEALTH member-owner Plan Design Committee meeting. While some of our schools already use the tool, this session enabled WebMD to highlight many of its capabilities to all our schools. We are creating complementary communications for our member-owners to promote the platform in the coming year. We will also highlight various features and programs throughout the year.

Another way we plan to use the tool is to host a new edHEALTH challenge this winter. Member-owners will receive more information about the month-long challenge soon.

The edHEALTH team is here to help

In addition to offering the WebMD platform to all schools, the edHEALTH team is committed to supporting our member-owners in promoting wellness on your campus.

If you have any questions about the wellness program, please contact Julianna Parker, Data Analyst and Member Relations Manager. She manages our wellness program, including our 2025 wellness challenges. If you’d like help with any communications, please reach out to Marketing Communications Manager Lisa Barnstein

Health & Wellness Communication Calendar

Looking for guidance on keeping wellness in the forefront all year long? Consider referencing our new communications calendar. We have put together this document as a simple guide for health and wellness messaging year-round.

For some months, member-owners can pull ready-to-use content directly from the edHEALTH portal. This calendar, available in the portal (look for it in the Data Repository & Communications section), highlights various health awareness months and offers a few easy ways to promote them. It also provides our schools with a few friendly reminders on how and when to take advantage of what being a part of edHEALTH includes.

Downloads to Support December's National Influenza Week

Did you know that December 2 - 6 is National Influenza Vaccination Week? That's likely because the peak activity of flu season occurs between December and February each year. If you'd like to promote getting a flu shot on your campus, here are a couple of resources available to use:
