Week of Respect
The Week of Respect is observed annually in New Jersey during the week beginning with the first Monday in October, as required by N.J.S.A. 18A:37-29. During this week, all public school districts are required to provide age- appropriate instruction and activities focused on the prevention of harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB). In addition, it provides schools a meaningful opportunity to strengthen school climate by reinforcing positive behaviors, empathy, and responsible decision-making.
Each of our District schools has created meaningful, age-appropriate lessons and activities that promote a welcoming and safe culture in the classroom. Themes include: “small acts of kindness make a big difference,” "the strongest magic is kindness," “respect is how we treat ourselves, how we treat others, and how we treat our school, " “we are all different, but we belong to the same community,” and “I can show respect through my words and actions.” Additionally, each school is holding daily themed spirit dress days to bring students together and have fun — all while learning important life lessons.
A special thank you to our principals, counselors, teachers and staff who made this important week possible!
