Remote learning opportunities made available

Poplar Bluff teachers have enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with students during the districtwide wellness break.

Faculty will continue to be available to support exploratory learning for students at all grade levels on a regular basis through the end of the school year.

For those unable to participate during weekly office hours, a special website packed with academic resources for grades pre-K to 12 has been created by R-I curriculum leaders for parents/guardians homeschooling to help combat regression.

For upper and lower elementary students unable to access the Internet, updated educational packets are being distributed by administrators each Friday at the community's nine curbside meal pickup sites.

All supplemental instruction is for enrichment purposes only, and the voluntary assignments will not be graded during this time.

Free Wi-Fi hotspots opened throughout PB

A dozen businesses and organizations have partnered with Poplar Bluff Schools to offer guest Wi-Fi for students seeking Internet services, thanks to the Chamber of Commerce for reaching out to its membership.

Click here to view the map of the hotspots available for free throughout the community, including several access points the district has opened up across campus.

Network partners ask that visitors continue to practice social distancing, and please be respectful when utilizing parking lots, as many of the buildings are temporarily closed during the stay-at-home order.

Chartwells, District continues to serve meals

Chartwells, in partnership with Poplar Bluff Schools, is serving nearly 6,200 meals per day to over 2,000 students in need at pickup sites and by delivery, and will continue to do so through the end of the school year on Thursday, May 21.

The grab and go bags-packaged to include breakfast, lunch and dinner-are available free of charge to anyone 18 years of age or younger from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on weekdays at nine curbside service locations throughout the community, as well as six bus routes. On Fridays, additional meals for the weekend are provided.

Students find ways to help during crisis
