Pastor Trudy's Message
The point of suffering? All of us will encounter times of suffering and pain in our lives. I don't fully understand where we ever got an expectation that we could avoid it. Paul leans into this reality in his letter to the Romans. Suffering isn't a someday thing for them, they are already enduring great suffering. This suffering, Paul says, 'will produce endurance' which will produce character and ultimately hope. When we gather as a community of faith, we give testimony to this reality. Regardless of all of the challenges we face we celebrate the hope we have in Christ.
Good and gracious God, You don't promise to protect us from suffering, but to accompany us through it. Help us to have hope in Your promises, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
