Because we live in a brand new neighborhood still under development, there are no houses on the other side of our end unit - yet. There is a plan for construction there, and I realize we will have to readjust one day to a different view than the current one looking out the windows in our master bedroom & bathroom, laundry room, and garage.
The pretty view now is of lush summer trees along the woods-line, an enormous field, tan deer grazing on the corn-on-the-cob I toss into the field from the back porch, birds pittering and foraging, and gorgeous morning sunshine beaming through the windows.
[One morning while looking outside of the bathroom window, I even spotted a dirty lost pooch in the field! I scampered outside to rescue him.]
When the developer begins the set of villas on that side of our new house, we understand our view will be drastically different. Looking out those same windows, we will see the side wall of another home. A large wall of aluminum siding will block our morning sunshine and view of the green trees, cover up the farmer's field, and chase away the deer and the birds.
We know we must enjoy the view WHILE IT'S HERE ... since soon it will be snatched away. I am preparing myself.
Snippeteers, let us remind ourselves again and again to enjoy while it's here ... before it's taken away. Are you perhaps thinking of something or someone or a specific situation as you read this snippet?

Nothing lasts forever. No one is immortal. Fun times stop - until the next time. We've been reminded over and over and over once more to "enjoy it while it lasts." We hear it so often, do we even heed it any more? Or has the phrase become that mundane in our ears?
Maybe so, yet it is still true.
So savor the view, savor the loved one, savor that getaway, savor that last bite of cannoli. We must enjoy NOW - TODAY - HERE - IN THIS MOMENT - since it will be eventually taken away, altered or over.
Change is constant.
