Two girlfriends and I were happy hour'ing and sunset'ing on a rooftop venue overlooking the beach and various topics were flying around the table. When I asked one to tell me about the large promotion for which she had been recommended at her company, she launched into why she thought she wouldn't get the job.
I stopped her. "Wait, don't lead with the negative. Tell me the good parts of being considered for the position." She changed lanes and proceeded to say.
Women especially tend to more easily fall into a pattern of leading with the negative ego — "Oh, I can’t" ... "I’m not qualified" ... "S/he's so much better at it than me" ... "I'm not worthy."
There is too much “can not” rather than “why not?” or “I can do this!” Too many feelings of unworthiness.
Why not YOU?
We even often underprice the products we worked hours and hours to create or the talented skills & services we offer because we're afraid people won't pay it, will think it unworthy of its price, will expect it "cheaper," or for free.
Snippeteers, let's not underestimate ourselves, our skills, our talents, our products, our services, our worth.
Feel worthy.
And while declaring it, let's lead our sentences with the plusses when someone asks. Let's lead with the good.
