Make sure you register for Creative Placemaking Summit 8: A Retrospective. We are super excited to be kicking things off on Oct. 3, 2022, at Rotary Park with coffee and pastries from Blue Owl and the unveiling of the Shiawassee Bridge Mosaic Mural. Join us along with Mayor Schor and artist Alexandra Leonard for the introduction of this beautiful community public artwork to downtown Lansing. Then attend our first session, featuring area Arts Impact artists talking about what it's like to receive an Arts Impact Grant and create large-scale work. This kick-off event is free and open to all!

That's right! The Summit runs from Oct. 3-7, and not only that, it's happening at creative venues all over Downtown, Old Town and REO town. You don't want to miss a single day. The DeWitt Downtown Development Authority (DDA) announces a request for proposals (RFP) for a work of art in the form of four functional, artistic benches to be located at the four corners just north of Main St. on Bridge St. The art pieces/benches are envisioned as being highly visible to both automobile and pedestrian traffic and adding to the unique character of the City of DeWitt and the downtown business district. The competition is open to all artists, architects and designers that live or work in the tri-County region of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties. Deadline: Oct. 3, 2022.

Watermark Art Center in Bemidji, Minnesota, seeks entries for a juried ceramics exhibit. All work must be functional ceramics. Submitted works must be original and produced after January 2020. All entries must value $900 or less. If accepted, art must be prepared and ready for install/hanging. Fee is $10 per entry, maximum of four entries. Deadline: Sept. 30, 2022.
Embracing Our Differences invites artists to participate in creating a society where diversity is embraced and individuality is celebrated. Submit your original art to their international outdoor juried art exhibit, held in Sarasota and Manatee County, Florida, featuring 50 billboard-size images reflecting the theme "enriching lives through diversity and inclusion." Free to enter. Deadline: October 5, 2022.
The Decatur Arts Alliance, with the City of Decatur, seeks artists for acquisition of existing work at the new Sam's Crossing retail/residential district in Decatur, Georgia. The Decatur Arts Alliance is seeking three different sculptures, each to be installed at one of three specific sites. Total compensation for each work is $30,000 - $50,000, depending on the site. Sculpture artists can submit completed or in-progress work. No entry fee. Deadline: October 16, 2022.

Free Lighting Design Workshop
Riverwalk Theatre announces its basic lighting design workshop with Joe Dickson and Tom Ferris. Learn the purpose of theater lighting and the different types of instruments the lighting designer needs to do a show. Basic board operations will be discussed. This is a free workshop provided by Riverwalk Theatre. Limited to the first eight participants. The workshop will take place on Oct. 1, 2022, at Riverwalk Theatre.
