give it up

In my PURGE PHASE around here, I have been donating, selling, and giving to friends all kinds of house items. One local company bought 36 folding chairs and six folding tables from me on facebook marketplace - even though two of the tables had broken brackets underneath. (The lady who picked them up knew it - I showed her - she still bought them.)

Another lady bought six pool lounge chairs, even though the color had faded to a steel gray from a brighter blue. (Again - I wasn't duping her - she could see them in person when comparing the fronts and backs of the chairs.)

And for free ... zero $ ... come and get 'em! ... I gave away 5 purple bar stools on facebook marketplace which were a few decades old and had rips on each side of the back cushions from my guests swiveling into the brick bar as they enjoyed a cocktail. One of my cousins wanted one of my cement angels - it was dirty, chipped, and weathered. Take it!

I failed to understand why someone wanted ripped bar stools and broken tables, faded chairs and chipped angels, yet after they were gone from my house - guess what? It wasn't my concern any more! Everything was outta here. I gave them up; the items were off my plate. The people could do with the items whatever they wanted - keep them as is or repair them.

Couldn't help but equate this with the mantra, GIVE IT UP TO GOD. When we need Him to take something off our plate, we just need to say, "come and get it outta here!" We need for it not to be our responsibility, worry, and concern any longer. We need Him to take it away - we can't deal with it - it is too much in disrepair.

We fail to understand why God wants our crazy issues and broken problems, but He does. He will take them ALL.

What is on your plate that you don't wanna "eat?" Just give it up to God. He's not on facebook marketplace, but He is on speed dial.

"My girlfriends and I subscribe to the same philosophy on the golf course. Sometimes it comes out very sarcastically. So when one of us says to the other who hit a bad shot - I've NEVER done that! ... it is well received and we realize in that moment, that indeed, none of us are golf pros and we are playing an incredibly difficult sport. We keep moving and try to improve on the next shot."
