On Friday, SBCTA Staff conducted a tour and roundtable discussion with Mark Tollefson (Undersecretary California State Transportation Agency), Molly Wiltshire (Acting Director of External Affairs, Office of the Governor), and Carina Tamayo (Inland Empire Deputy Regional Director, External Affairs, Office of the Governor).

Brightline West’s High Speed Rail Project received some good news to end the year as it announced a major investment from the federal government.

In early November, San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) and San Bernardino Council of Governments (SBCOG) hosted its annual Business 2 Business Expo (Expo). For a decade now, the Expo is held to connect prime and subcontractor firms for future teaming opportunities, enhance awareness of local labor, and educate prospective bidders on contracting opportunities.

In October, SBCTA’s Zero Emission Multiple Unit (ZEMU) made its U.S. debut at the American Public Transit Association’s national conference in Orlando, Florida. The ZEMU, developed by train manufacturer Stadler and in partnership with the California State Transportation Agency, will be the first self-powered hydrogen train in North America.

Major capital investments – highways, bridges and state-of-the-art transit systems – showcase some of the more obvious benefits of Measure I, the taxpayer-supported half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements in San Bernardino County.

Metrolink’s Holiday Express Train made a stop at Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, December 2, offering a one-of-a-kind, family-friendly experience. Nearly 1,000 riders were treated to an hour-long journey between Rancho Cucamonga and Covina stations, complete with decorations, carolers, and beloved holiday characters. Metrolink hosts the event each year not only to offer families a fun holiday outing, but also to encourage increased ridership.

Ted Alejandre, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, presented to the SBCTA/SBCOG Board at the December Board meeting providing an update on the County’s educational system.

Metrolink trains will be out of service for four days from Tuesday, December 26 to Friday, December 29 to conduct necessary upgrades to their rail network. They will resume their regularly scheduled service on Saturday, December
