June 2019
The SBCTA Board elected Darcy McNaboe as President and Frank Navarro as Vice President at the June Board of Directors Meeting. Both have been serving in interim roles since December of 2018.

As background, the 2018/19 year began with then County Supervisor James Ramos serving as SBCTA President. However, the election of Mr. Ramos to the California State Assembly in the November 6th election resulted in SBCTA Vice President Darcy McNaboe fulfilling the rest of the one-year presidential term. Colton Mayor Frank Navarro was then elected as SBCTA Board Vice President for the remainder of the year, filling the role vacated by President McNaboe.

The 10-Year Delivery Plan is developed within the policy framework established by the voter-approved measure I Expenditure Plan and the Measure I 2010-2040 Strategic Plan and provides a transparent list of projects that will be developed during the 10-year period. The focus of the plan is to define the current assumptions related to scope, schedule, and budget.
A key component for the future Arrow Service (passenger rail service between San Bernardino and Redlands) is the construction of a storage and maintenance facility for the innovative Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) slated for use along the 9-mile corridor.

At the June Board meeting, the Board of Directors approved the construction contract for this new facility that will repurpose the existing Inland Empire Maintenance Facility located east of the San Bernardino Depot and west of Interstate 215. This property has been owned by SBCTA since 2002 and is where Metrolink locomotive-hauled coaches were serviced until 2018.
Starting Monday night (June 10), crews will be closing an entire direction of the freeway and up to three lanes in the opposite direction between the hours of 8pm and 4am.

Crews will start the full closures on the northbound side of the freeway. It is expected to shift to the southbound side on Wednesday, June 12 (depending on production in the field).

Freeway traffic will be routed around the work via the off and on ramps in the direction of the full closure. Local traffic will be restricted from using the Barton Road Bridge over I-215 during hours of operation. Local detours will be signed. Plan accordingly and, if possible, avoid the construction area during these types of major events.
Did you know that SBCTA launched a Vanpool program? SB Loop is a program is designed to offer commuters a better, more relaxing alternative to driving alone. In addition, the Loop provides a subsidy of up to $400 each month towards the cost of a vanpool lease for vanpools commuting into the Loop’s service area: the San Bernardino Valley, San Bernardino Mountains, Morongo Valley or Colorado River Basin.
