March 2021
On February 18th, SBCTA hosted the first in a series of I-10 Express Lanes Project webinars. The outreach team shared project information, upcoming construction activities, and construction progress, as well as answered questions from those in attendance. Monthly webinars are scheduled for this project via Zoom to keep the community members informed and up to date on construction progress. All webinars will be recorded and posted to the project website.

To receive information about future webinars and to sign up for weekly construction alerts, visit the project website at goSBCTA.com/i10corridor.
In December 2019, SBCTA joined the Alliance for Education for a half-day STEM session that provided San Bernardino County school instructors hands-on information about the process used to design, disassemble and reconstruct the new Mt. Vernon Avenue Bridge over the BNSF intermodal yard in San Bernardino.
From now until March 14, 2021, you’re invited to participate in a virtual walk audit around four bus stops to provide comments about safety and accessibility. Your comments will help Omnitrans improve safety at and around bus stops.

The four identified bus stop locations are:

  • Baseline at Waterman
  • Fontana Transit Center (Metrolink)
  • San Bernardino at Locust
  • Golden at Highland
This month at SBCTA’s Mountain Desert Policy Committee Meeting and Metro Valley Study Session Meeting, Jeffery Hill, SBCTA Procurement Manager, will present the new Contracts Analytics Dashboard to both committees respectively. The dashboard will offer a comparative perspective on the amount of added costs a construction contract might incur relative to a construction project's original cost. The dashboard represents construction contract costs using a bar and line graph that show cost amounts in whole US dollars. These graphs help illustrate how portions of costs compare to the original amount approved for a construction contract.
Victor Valley Transit Authority has partnered with the Town of Apple Valley, City of Victorville, and San Bernardino County to provide a temporary free door-to-door shuttle service called the Vaccine Xpress. This interim route is for individuals 65 and older with vaccine appointments at the Hook Community Center or Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church in the Town of Apple Valley. The Vaccine Xpress is available to all of VVTA’s current service areas.

“VVTA is proud and honored to be able to respond on such short notice to meet the public’s need for transportation to and from their vaccine appointment,” stated VVTA Executive Director Kevin Kane. “We wish everyone to be healthy and safe.”
