The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) is the transportation planning agency for San Bernardino County.
SBCTA is responsible for cooperative regional planning and furthering an efficient multi-modal transportation system countywide.
SBCTA proudly serves the more than 2.1 million residents of San Bernardino County.

SBCTA Board of Directors Elects New Board President and Vice President
With the election of the SBCTA Board President, County Supervisor James Ramos, to the California State Assembly in the November 6th election, the SBCTA Board of Directors selected a new Board President at their December 5th Board meeting.
A nominating committee, made up of members from each County sub-region, met prior to the Board meeting and voted on a recommendation to the full Board for a new Board President. The nominating committee recommended, and the Board approved, Board Vice President Darcy McNaboe to serve out the 2018-2019 term as Board President. Board President McNaboe has served on the SBCTA Board since February 2015, as Mayor of the City of Grand Terrace since 2014 and as a Council member from 2010-2014. She was recently re-elected to serve as Mayor in the November 2018 election.
With the elevation of Vice President McNaboe to Board President, the nominating committee also considered nominations for a new Board Vice President.
The nominating committee recommended, and the Board of Directors approved, Colton Mayor Frank Navarro to serve as Board Vice President for the remainder of the 2018-2019 term. Vice President Navarro was recently elected to Mayor of Colton in the November 2018 election and previously served as a Council member since 2012. He has served on the SBCTA Board since February of 2013 and most recently was Chair of the Metro Valley Study Session.

Metrolink Discount on San Bernardino Line Boosts Ridership, Fare Extended
Metrolink has announced the provisional 25 percent discounted fare implemented on July 1, 2018 on the San Bernardino Line will be extended beginning January 1, 2019. The San Bernardino Line, with nearly 10,000 weekday boardings, is one of Metrolink's busiest lines.
The discounted fare is made possible through one-time funding from LA Metro and SBCTA. The SBCTA Board of Directors approved the use of a $2 million Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) grant and supplemental State Transit Assistance Funds to implement the 25 percent discount to help boost ridership. The pilot program showed immediate results with the San Bernardino Line experiencing an eight percent increase in August and a ten percent increase in each of September and October compared to 2017.
The MSRC grant is anticipated to provide funding through 2021. The hope is that the success of the program will continue and the increases in ridership will allow the discounted fares to continue once the grant funding is expended.
Metrolink's San Bernardino Line connects downtown San Bernardino to Los Angeles Union Station through 14 stations and 57.6 route miles. The San Bernardino Line replaces car trips of more than 26 million freeway miles annually.

Housing Shortage a Critical Priority for SBCOG
 The County of San Bernardino is the largest county by area in the United States with a total
population of 2,160,256, and this is projected to increase by 28% between 2020 and 2045.
Stakeholders and growth forecasting agencies such as Southern California Association of Governments have identified an existing severe lack of available and "affordable" housing which will continue to be exacerbated should limited construction of units continue.
Due to these factors, the San Bernardino Council of Governments Board of Directors recognizes the long term impact of little to no affordable housing, and has directed staff to present the a resolution as a formalization of that recognition. The resolution will be a necessary first
step in proceeding with a Housing Strategic Plan and toolkit. This project will provide the opportunity for stakeholders, policy makers, and local agencies to participate in identifying
solutions and options.

SBCTA Executive Director Named Man of the Year by WTS Orange County Chapter
SBCTA Executive Director, Dr. Ray Wolfe, was presented with the Honorable Ray LaHood Award at the Women's Transportation Seminar Orange County Chapter (WTS-OC) 30th Annual Awards Gala on Thursday night.
This award was named after the 2009-2013 Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Ray LaHood, who supported WTS International's mission, and whose efforts have accelerated the gender diversity issue toward more opportunities.The Award, which is also known as "Man of the Year" award, was created to recognize the men that have been key to WTS International's efforts to attract, retain, and advance women in transportation. WTS has long called for men to take an active role in bringing more women to the industry and to help women achieve the highest levels of leadership.
Dr. Wolfe directly contributes to the advancement of women and minorities in transportation by consistently affording them equal access to opportunity, repeatedly recognizing talent regardless of gender, and supporting them in their efforts to advance.
"I'm honored by this recognition", said Dr. Wolfe. "I would like to thank the SBCTA Board for their leadership and support of the talented women and men of the SBCTA staff whose collective effort helps everyday to improve transportation in Southern California."

Victor Valley Transit Authority's Stop at Route 43 at Bear Valley Road Closed Until December 28th
 The Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA) Route 43 Bus Stop 20063 in Apple Valley on westbound Bear Valley Road west of Kiowa Road will not be serviced during construction, beginning Tuesday, November 27. Alternatively, passengers may use VVTA Stop 20061 on westbound Bear Valley Road west of Iroquois Road in front of Burger King. Completion of construction is expected Friday, December 28, when regular service to the stop should resume.

SBCTA Office Holiday Schedule
SBCTA Offices will be closing to the public beginning Monday, December 24, 2018 and will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 for the holiday season.
In January, the Board of Director's meeting has been moved to January 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM due to the New Year's Day Holiday. All committee meetings, except for Metro Valley Study Session, have been cancelled in January and will reconvene in February.
