going for less

It's crunch time on our big move between homes - 20 more days! We are SUPER excited and trying to stay patient after waiting 7 months for the new pad to be built.

As I look around here at the many piles of boxes, bags, furniture, empty rooms, and STUFF, I gauge that we have purged about TWO-THIRDS of our household contents from this giant house ... 2/3!!! We have donated much of it, passed many items along to family and friends, and sold some on fb marketplace.

The amount of lesser stuff is huge. And may I say how unemotional and liberating of a process it has been!

In our world of MORE MORE MORE, it feels quite refreshing at this age to go for LESS. Humans are constantly pressured to buy more ... get more ... obtain more ... produce more ... do more ... achieve more ... work more ... earn more ... GO FOR MORE.

Excessiveness seems to be our norm. Yet what does that lead to?

  • Force
  • Stress
  • Compression
  • Tension
  • Self-pressure
  • Peer pressure
  • Burnout
  • Overwhelm
  • Overextension
  • Striving
  • Responsibility

This girl? I am striving for LESS: less bills ... less stuff ... less hanging onto sentimental things ... less rooms ... less responsibilities ... less square footage ... less tasks ... less to manage ... less acreage ... less pressure ... less excessiveness. I am going for LESS.

Making life simpler. Easier. Smoother. And it sure feels good.

snippeteer backtalk

on "dare to stop the compare"

read previous SNIPPETS here>>>

"Totally agree with you on the comparisons we make and shouldn't. I think that may get a little easier as we get older, at least that's how it was for me.

As far as that meme on accomplishments, I get the overall gist. Yep, only women can grow and birth a baby, so far. However, except for a few items that have been achieved by individual men, I say that women can do everything on the list for men, plus have those babies."

~ Love ya, Cindy B. in Maryland

"COMPARE?? I've decided to do only the comparison to others my age. At almost 83, I see both ends of the spectrum in my job and I find I am in the middle. And at this age, getting dressed, etc., is much easier, because, as I tell my friends, NO ONE is looking at us anyway!! After all, if I look like an old lady, I AM ONE!!"
