from the president

Field hockey state champs ... best large team delegation at the UVA Model UN Conference ... that’s what happened just last week at Langley! Our students are a talented group of young men and women who excel in academics, athletics, the arts and more. There is a lot to celebrate in Saxon country.
As the holiday season approaches, many of our performing arts groups will be showcasing their talents. From Saxon Stage’s Romeo and Juliet to the chorus’ Renaissance Feaste to the holiday concerts of the Langley band and orchestra … there’s something for everyone!

I hope to see you at these upcoming events as we celebrate our Saxons!

langley/mclean boundary meeting
FCPS is holding a boundary meeting at LHS on Mon, Dec 2, 7 pm-8:30 pm in the Cafeteria to gather input regarding the Langley-McLean boundary. Please consider attending this important meeting. If you can’t make the LHS meeting, FCPS also is holding a session at McLean HS on Wed, Dec 4, 7 pm-8:30 pm in the MHS Cafeteria.

At these two meetings, FCPS staff will present info and scenarios on how to reduce McLean HS overcrowding by moving students to Langley. Meeting attendees will engage in small group discussions and provide feedback to FCPS staff during the meeting.

The input will be used to help develop options that will be presented in boundary meetings in spring 2020. Feedback during the spring meetings will then be used to develop recommendations for the School Board. Click here for more details.

nominate our staff
Each year, FCPS honors teachers and staff with awards of excellence for outstanding performance. Our Langley faculty and staff are truly exceptional and they deserve recognition beyond our walls. Please take a moment to nominate Langley members. School-level winners go on to the pyramid, region and division levels.

The five award categories are: teacher or librarian, new teacher or librarian, school leader, professional employee (e.g., counselor, psychologist, tech specialist) and operational employee (e.g., administrative assistants, custodial and food service staff, instructional assistants).

Click here for the nomination form, and here for more about the awards process.

saxons, did you know …
The theme of this year's national School Psychology Awareness Week is “Find Your Focus.” Our school psychologists along with other LHS staff work with students every day to help them find their focus — to identify their strengths and interests, develop persistence, see ideas and situations more clearly, and attend to important information in academic and social settings.

Families can do the same! Here are some ways to help your student find their focus at home.
