a final note from Bonnie

In this final eNews edition of the 2024-25 school year, I wanted to say a thank you to everyone who supported the PTSA and the Langley community this year. It has been a pleasure being president of Langley’s PTSA. When you volunteer at Langley, it gives you a front row seat to see the incredible work our teachers and staff put into making Langley a great place for our students to thrive. We’ve been thrilled to support our teachers in their efforts to go above and beyond for our students.

PTSA donations have been put to very good use – from buying classroom resources and financially supporting academic competitions to sending a counselor to college visits, financial support to the staff in going above and beyond is one of the many secrets to Langley’s success

A highlight for me has been getting to volunteer with amazing parents who devote their time, talent, and treasure making sure the Langley community is second to none. I want to give a special thank you to those volunteers who have served Langley for years, but are now graduating their youngest. Joy, Robyn, Bill, Danica, Sue, Sandy, and I’m sure there are others, but we really appreciate the contributions and sacrifices you have made for our students over the many years you have served!

Finally, I want to give a huge thank you to Principal Stroud. He joined Saxon Country in the fall and immediately sought out parents to build a partnership to jointly support our school. He took to heart the comments that we wanted a leader who loves Langley as much as we do, and his tireless efforts to get to know Langley students, staff, and parents, is very much appreciated. The PTSA is looking forward to many years ahead of a successful partnership with the school.

I hope you all have a restful summer and are able to enjoy time with your families!

~ Bonnie Myshrall, PTSA President 2024-25

thank you to the many ptsa volunteers and donors

As we put a wrap on the 2024-25 school year, we'd like to share a sampling of the things the PTSA, through our volunteers and donors, have accomplished. If you've ever wondered where your donations go, wonder no more! Each of these programs have added significant value to the Langley community -- whether building camaraderie among the students and staff, supporting academic efforts, educating parents and students on important issues to support their high school journey, or showing gratitude to the many teachers and staff who consistently go above and beyond for our students, PTSA volunteers have worked hard to use our resources to support Saxon Country. If you'd like to make a final end of year gift to help us get started on a strong note next year, please do so here. For Amazon shoppers, don't forget to use the PTSA link/app so you can support our efforts with no out-of-pocket costs!

  1. The PTSA leadership hosted an event for new Langley employees, welcoming them with breakfast and giving them their first Langley spirit wear.

  3. We welcomed back all 200 of Langley’s staff with a breakfast feast put on by our Hospitality Committee
  4. Hospitality also put on 3 large appreciation lunches, decorated the administration hallway to transform it into a fun spot for our teachers and staff to feel appreciated by our families.

Thank you so much, Rehenuma Asmi, Pallabi BaruaJuli Nix, and Marci Love Thomas, for all the time, care, and dedication you poured into eNews this year, especially under the wonderful guidance of past editor Helen Miller. I’m incredibly grateful for your patience and support as I’ve gotten up to speed in a short amount of time. Sandy Trumbull and Robyn Smith would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Class of 2025 parent team and the many others whose dedication helped make these years truly special for both students and families. Chelsea Lake kept parents connected through her welcoming coffees and informative forums, while Christina Murphy brought the community together each year with her delicious and well-organized class dinners. Mocha Dyrud and Christina Maxwell created an unforgettable junior prom at Renaissance Hotel Arlington and Christina went above and beyond once again by compiling a touching and memorable senior slideshow. Brenda Beeland ensured every event had the volunteer support it needed, Kristie Kim made class t-shirt distribution seamless, and Kevin Carey, class treasurer, was always ready to help wherever needed. These efforts were made possible with the unwavering support of PTSA president, Bonnie Myshrall, and the dedication of LHS parent liaison, Julie Zimmerman Hohl.

A special thank you goes to Sue Sujansky, who led this year’s All Night Grad Party at a brand-new venue. It was an incredible success and a night the seniors will never forget. We’re also deeply grateful to Stefanie Stayin and Stephanie Nicolaides for stepping in to help with ANGP planning, and to the many parents who stayed after graduation until 3 am to ensure the event ran smoothly. Your commitment left a lasting mark on the Class of 2025.

Finally, we would like to thank Jim Sykes, our class administrator, for keeping everyone informed and supported throughout the years, and Daniel Jevne, class sponsor, whose steady presence meant so much to the students. And all the teachers and staff at LHS who helped prepare our students for the next chapter of their lives. The memories made at Langley are the result of a true team effort.

  • Beginning Jul 1, 2025, athletic physicals will be considered valid for a period of 14 months from the date the form is signed by the medical provider completing the exam. This is the date on page 3 of the VHSL Athletic Participation/Parent Consent/Physical Examination Form (the Jan 2021 form).

RSCHOOL REGISTRATION CHANGE
The current athletic registration platform (rSchools i.e. langleyathletics.org) will be moving. All of the new sites are in the process of being created. Some important information for you while the process is finalized:
  • registration sites will NOT open on May 1 this year due to the creation of the new sites.
  • there will be a new site address, families will have to create new accounts and the registrations from the current registration system will not carry over at this time.
  • details will be sent out once everything is up and running to include instructions.
