Legislature Heats Up 
The long session of the General Assembly is in the thick of its work at this point.  Appropriations subcommittees are meeting multiple times a week, the Governor's proposal has started the budget process, and other committees are moving bills along.  Here's a quick look at some of the bills that the General Assembly is currently considering:

North Carolina Managed Care Enrollment Broker Update
Maximus, the NC DHHS contracted enrollment broker for the 1115 Medicaid Waiver has provided i2i the following information about their operations, services and responsibilities for NC's Medicaid program.

As North Carolina transitions to managed care, MAXIMUS will work closely with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to improve the health and well-being of NC through innovative, whole-person centered care that addresses both medical and non-medical drivers of health.

i2i Convening Partners to Improve High Level Child Mental Health Services
Improving services that address care to children with the highest level needs in the system and working to bring these services in line with a whole person care approach is the goal of a new i2i collaborative project. i2i will facilitate work with a group of LME-MCOs and PRTFs to address standardized performance measures for psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF) facility services. Psychiatric Residential Treatment is one of the most expensive and restrictive levels of care for children. It is important to demonstrate that these services are clinically effective, achieve outcomes, and are cost effective.

Children's Council Focuses on Collaboration
The Children's Council meeting on March 15th included discussion that emphasized the need to strengthen formal processes and information sharing across health and human services as it applies to children involved with local departments of social services, LME/MCOs, schools and juvenile justice. The Children's Council is formally known as the Child Well-Being Transformation Council. This Council was established by the legislature under the S.L. 2017-41, "Rylan's Law".

I'm IN: Community Inclusion Launches 4 Innovative Pilot Programs
The I'm IN: Community Inclusion has recruited four new Pilot Partners to extend the impact of community inclusion. Each of the four Pilot Partners will implement an innovation within their local community that promotes inclusion of adults with mental illness. The four sites are:

Training March 28th 
Public Policy Changes Impacting System of Care for Children, Youth & Families 
kids-holding-hands.jpg  Over 100 have already signed up to attend a joint Division of MH/DD/SAS and i2i Center training examining the critical state & federal system changes impacting Care for Children, Youth & their Families in NC.   This training will cover:  Medicaid Transformation, Federal Families First Act, Social Service and Child Welfare Restructuring, Raise the Age Juvenile Jurisdiction and School Based MH Changes.
