BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS
THIS SUNDAY all students and educators are invited to bring their backpacks, briefcases or just themselves down to the front of one of the worship services for a time of prayer. During this special time, the church will pray for them as they begin a new school year.

KIDS WORSHIP! AND
CHILDREN'S CELEBRATION
Attention Parents! Sunday August 7 at 10AM in the gym we will celebrate our children with Promotion Sunday, Kindergarten Bible Presentation, Meet Your Teacher and Kids Worship! This Sunday only, Kids Worship! will be moved to 10AM.

ROCK THE BLOCK
Join us for Rock the Block, Wednesday, August 17, 5:45-8:00PM. There will be inflatables, laser tag, obstacle course, 20 foot inflatable slide, two bounce houses, giant inflatable dart board, pit of foam, yard games and board games AND don't forget the shaved ice truck. This will be a great time to be together!!! . Free dinner and so much more. Rock the Block is Community Care Night for August 17. Invite a friend and make plans to be here!

SANCTUARY OPEN DAILY FOR A TIME OF PRAYER - Beginning August 1, from 12:00-12:30PM the Sanctuary will be open daily for a time of prayer. You may enter through the Narthex or the East Covered entrance. We hope you will take advantage of this very intentional time to pray.
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS - Canned Vegetables, Small Canned Soup (15oz or less), Vegetable Oil, Boxed Meals (i.e. Hamburger Helper), Bagged Rice (1lb bag white or brown) - Offering at the Altar August 21.

DONATIONS NEEDED FOR FLOOD VICTIMS - We are collecting items to help in the Southwest Virginia flood recovery. Once Kentucky moves out of the emergency phase into the recovery phase we will collect for them as well. For the complete list of needed items, click here.
To donate to UMCOR Flood Relief, click here. Please drop donated items off at the Thrift Store Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

YOU ARE INVITED to join the New Visions Class on Sunday, August 7 (on Zoom from your home or in room 204), to begin our study of Brian McLaren’s latest book, Do I Stay Christian? Ten chapters cover some of the church’s spectacular failures, and ten, some of its best accomplishments. Our small discussion class is led by Jack Wilson, a retired college professor with a Ph. D. in the New Testament. For questions about the book or Zooming with us, email Jack Wilson.

SUNDAY MORNING SMALL GROUPS - All 7th through 12th graders are invited on Sundays at 10AM in The Studio (above the worship center)!
PARENT MEETING - August 14, 6:30-7:30 PM - There will be pizza and games beginning at 6PM and the Parent Meeting is 6:30-7:30PM. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend if your child is participating with us this school year. We will go over the calendar for the year and have the new paperwork for you to fill out for the upcoming 2022-2023 year.

United Methodist Men will meet at 7:45AM on August 7 in the Fellowship Hall. We'll have breakfast followed by our speaker, Bob Kesling, Voice of the Vols.
