SERVING OTHERS

THE THRIFT STORE NEEDS RESTOCKING

Between the bag sale and just having good days at The Thrift Store, the shelves are getting kind of bare! We would really appreciate it if when you're doing your spring cleaning and clearing things out, you remember our store and bring us your unwanted treasures. You can drop items off in the back anytime during store hours - 10-6 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 10-3 on Wednesday and Saturday. We're closed on Sunday. If you have large items such as furniture, call the thrift store at 865-394-9741 and schedule a pick-up. We're especially in need of furniture and knick knacks. Thanks for your support!

RENOVATIONS AT CAMP DICKENSON – March 12-14

The folks at Camp Dickenson are in the process of renovating some of their facilities and could use our help. These are the four mission-critical projects they need to complete before the summer: 1) Finish renovating the Duplex Cabin - paint the exterior siding and build an overhang over the side door and porch. 2) Finish renovating Cabins 1 & 2 - painting, building shelves in the closets, and some finishing touches in the bathrooms. 3) Renovate the downstairs of the Lodge. And 4) Renovate the upstairs Lodge bathrooms and paint the upstairs Lodge dining/meeting rooms. If you're interested in helping or have questions, email missions at missions@concordunited.org

BED BUILDING EVENT – Saturday March 21, 10am to 2:30pm

We will be working with a group called Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build 50 beds for children in our community who need a safe place to sleep. The organization brings all the building supplies and equipment. They also provide guidance, so you don't have to be an expert at cutting boards or assembling the beds. Just have a willing heart. Volunteers need to be 5 years and older. Those under 12 must always be accompanied by a parent. A pizza lunch will be provided. You can sign up to help at Concordunited.org/events. If you can't help with the build, you can still help with funding a bed or the different components. You can donate HERE and select Bed Build or with a check with bed build in the memo line.

CAMP WESLEY WOODS - RENOVATION WORK

The folks at Camp Wesley Woods have lots of renovation work going on and could really use your help. Volunteers don't need to be skilled at carpentry, and no heavy lifting is required. Here is the schedule for the next few weeks: March 2-13 applying coffer material to the ceiling. March 16-21 replacing windows, setting bathroom vanities and setting interior doors, March 23-27 applying shiplap material to the walls. They also have deck repairs and staining, handrail repairs and stairs to build. Normally, they work during the week starting about 9 and finishing around 3. However, they will have team leaders also available on Saturdays if that's when volunteers can work. They also provide all the tools and materials. So come with a friend or your small group and lend a helping hand. For more information, please contact Stan Atkins, Atkinsstan53@gmail.com - 865 310-0508

DEEPLY ROOTED: ENGAGE THE BIBLE IN COMMUNITY

Want to grow in how you study God’s Word? As we prepare for Lent, we’re offering two unique spaces to engage the Bible in community- each centered on helping you hear God’s voice and follow Him more fully. Whether you’re just beginning or already familiar with the inductive Bible study method, there’s a place for you.

Wednesdays, 7-8:00pm, February 18–April 8

  • Deeply Rooted: Inductive Foundations – An entry point for those new to the inductive method, offering spiritually rich tools to observe, interpret and apply God’s word with confidence. Click here to learn more.

 Wednesdays, 10-11:30am, February 18– April 8

  • Deeply Rooted: Inductive Practice – For those who have practiced the inductive method before, this group helps you deepen your practice and equips you to guide others. Click here to learn more.

Choose the group that best fits where you are in your faith journey or consider inviting a friend to join you! Both groups are grounded in the belief that God’s Word transforms us—and equips us to bear fruit.

ARE YOU SEEKING DEEPER CONNECTION INTO A COMMUNITY OF FAITH? Know anyone who is?

Concord is excited to launch a new drop-in group on Sunday mornings called “Sunday Open Door”. Sunday Open Door is a friendly and relaxed space to explore faith, ask questions, and be in community without any commitments. Led by a rotating group of spiritual leaders and teachers, we’ follow the rhythm of Concord’s weekly message themes, scriptures, and devotionals to reflect on how faith meets everyday life. Childcare is provided, so come enjoy a hot cup of coffee, get to know someone new, and experience how amazing your life changes when you choose to follow God alongside others.

COMMUNITY CARE NIGHT

Wednesday evenings is a time we gather across generations in community to connect with God and others, through a meal, worship, and groups. Lent is a great time to connect through Community Care Night.

A free meal is served from 5:30-6:20pm weekly. There is no better place to connect with others than at the dinner table. MENU: Potato Bar

We worship from 6:30-7:00pm on Wednesday evenings. We are “Praying Through Lent” as our worship focus. See the scheduled below:

March 4 – Praying Through Surrender

March 11 – Praying Through Lament

March 18 – Praying Through Forgiveness

March 25 – Prayer Service with Song, Scripture, and Prayer
