Medical Students Prepare for Clerkships
Second-year College of Medicine students focused on learning crisis care and trauma skills through classroom demonstrations followed by “hands-on” airway management, suturing, IV training, NG/OG placement and PPE procedure lab simulations in the Davis Global Center.
Optimizing Ophthalmology with Virtual Reality
iEXCEL hosted Susvimo Surgical Excellence Day led by Dr. Steven Yeh, in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology and Truhlsen Eye Institute. This multi-partner simulation was tailored for ophthalmologists and retina specialists. Attendees from Nebraska and neighboring states advanced their skills in treating age-related macular degeneration using Virtual Reality experiences, peer-led didactics and “hands-on” surgical experiences.
iEXCEL Forum on Future of Digital Work Force Development
iEXCEL hosted Digital Work Force Preparedness for a Changing World by live-streaming to a national audience from the Davis Global Center. This virtual event featured presentations and panel discussions with UN Deans, military, academic, industry, and community leaders to share and gain insights regarding an evolving digital and technologic work force that will take us into the future.
Interprofessional Student Activities
iEXCEL collaborated with the UNMC Student Interprofessional Society to create simulation scenarios and a hybrid online/in-person seminar discussing racial bias in health care. To highlight training capabilities in the center, the iEXCEL Student Society hosted a virtual tour of the Davis Global Center's visualization technologies.
