CALLING ALL RAINBOW GRADUATION HONOREES! The Class of 2020 Queerbook is here to celebrate YOU!

It was with extremely heavy hearts that the Rainbow Graduation Planning Committee announced the cancellation of the Rainbow Graduation ceremony this May. However, they have worked together to create another opportunity to honor the amazing and hard work of UA's LGBTQ+ graduates: The Class of 2020 Queerbook! Please read the following statement and information shared by the Planning Committee below:

Hello Class of 2020 and LGBTQIA+ friends and allies,

It is with heavy hearts that the 2020 Rainbow Graduation Planning Committee formally cancels this years' 13th Annual Rainbow Graduation. As a committee, we are all adjusting to the transitions of life amidst a global pandemic. It was our sincere hope that the celebration of some of the most profound members of the Class of 2020 would take place in person on May 9th.

We are still committed to celebrating our finest graduates through a digital yearbook, the Class of 2020 Queerbook. Of course, the digital yearbook only shines a fraction on what you mean to us. Nonetheless, we are excited to use a digital memento to remember your time with us at LGBTQ+ Resource Center, and as an incredible LGBTQIA student during your time at the university.

We thank you for making our lives better and more full through your existence. Unfortunately we are unable to send graduation materials via mail at this time, but we hope to in the future and will keep you updated. Of course you have an open invitation to attend and be recognized at any future Rainbow Graduations.

- Please use the link to Sign up for Class of 2020 Queerbook: and your information will be utilized in the digital yearbook.

- If you have already registered and would not like to be featured in the Class of 2020 Queerbook, please email

- Additionally, if you have already registered and would like to be displayed in the yearbook the committee will follow-up with any other Queerbook details we need.

- The deadline to sign-up for the Class of 2020 Queerbook is Wednesday, May 6th by 5pm.

LGBTQ and Age 55++ in Arizona? Take the COVID-19 Information Survey

The COVID-19 crisis in the United States has upset the lives of everyone, and may especially challenge those in Arizona who are LGBTQ and ages 55 years and older.

We invite you to share your experiences through this brief online survey of 52 questions about COVID-19 knowledge, attitudes, protective behaviors, and how the March 30th governor's order to stay home affects your mental and physical health. The survey requires about 20 minutes to complete. Your answers will be anonymous.

We also encourage you to share this survey link with other individuals and groups you may know in Arizona's LGBTQ communities.

The survey study is conducted by Dr. Beth Meyerson of the Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW) and the Institute for LGBTQ Studies at the University of Arizona. Survey results will be shared with organizations serving LGBTQ communities in Arizona.

An Institutional Review Board responsible for human subjects research at the University of Arizona reviewed this research project and found it to be acceptable, according to applicable state and federal regulations and University policies designed to protect the rights and welfare of participants in research.

Tucson Food Share offers free groceries, volunteer opportunities, and more!

In times of crisis, our most reliable support comes from within our communities. Tucson Food Share is a collective effort by and for Tucsonans to share life-giving resources amongst ourselves, without dependence upon government or corporate support. We operate by the principles of mutual aid, distributing food and other necessities without judgment to anyone who asks. We seek to make resources accessible, prioritizing the needs of our neighbors who are forgotten, ignored, and exploited by those in power. This is an entirely volunteer-run project that depends upon donations from community members to function.

Our current operations:
  • Receiving bulk donations or purchasing supplies wholesale.
  • Packing groceries for individual households in a sanitary, controlled environment to prevent the spread of contagions.
  • Distributing groceries at 600 N 4th Ave, Mondays and Thursdays 6-8pm.
  • Cooking and sharing a community meal every Sunday evening in De Anza Park, 1 hr before sunset until dark.
  • Using strict hygiene protocols in line with WHO and CDC recommendations to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
We support anyone who:
  • Is already self-isolating because their age and/or medical conditions put them in serious danger if they contract the virus.
  • Can't afford expensive grocery delivery services, and must either risk exposure or go hungry.
  • Is sick and cannot leave home for fear of infecting others.
  • Can't afford groceries because of lost work or structural poverty.
  • Is otherwise unable to reliably access nourishing food.

TFS was created by Food Not Bombs Tucson, a loosely organized collective of Tucsonans who come together out of empathy and respect for all of our neighbors. We feel honored to share food freely with anyone who wants it, regardless of their appearance or life circumstances. Most of our food is generously donated by local grocers and farmers who support this mission. We continue to cook and share publicly on Sunday evenings in De Anza Park, to support those who are unable to isolate and cook at home.

Out of work and hungry? Check out this free food resources page from This is Tucson!

We're living in an unprecedented time, where local restaurants and nonprofits are stepping up to help those who are short on money or food because of coronavirus closures and layoffs. Because there are so many options right now, This is Tucson has compiled a list of where to find a free meal by day of the week in the Tucson area.

You may notice that some programs have been included multiple times in this list. That's because they wanted to break it up by day, for easier browsing. Is anyone missing from this list? Email and they'll add your program to the list.
