During his time at Grace Church Ryan Missel has touched our parish with his love of God, love of Grace, compassion, caring, positive attitude and his big smile. Ryan has served on numerous ministry teams and has always said “yes” when asked and has volunteered when he sees a need. For the last few weeks he as served as videographer for our Sunday services. Be sure to read the full article below about his Reflection for Grace.

In September Ryan will be heading to Virginia Theological Seminary to take part in the Pathway to Ministry program. We will miss Ryan and the Missel family and wish you the best as you begin this new chapter of your life. (And we hope to see you back during your school breaks!)

Reflection for Grace

"We always give thanks to God for all of you and mention you in our prayers, constantly remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ"- 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 (NRSV)

1 Thessalonians is one of the most tender and devoted letters of Christian love found in the New Testament. Many biblical scholars believe that this letter was written to a community of believers in the Roman-occupied city of Thessalonica somewhere around 51 CE, just two decades after Jesus' death and resurrection. Facing serious trouble and opposition because of their Christian beliefs and practices, this community found themselves living in a time of great unknowing. Amidst these significant concerns, the authors of the letter, Paul, Timothy, and Silvanus (Silas) express a sense of thanksgiving and appreciation for the Chrisitan family that still resonates in our hearts today. Help Needed For Streaming Services

This March the unimaginable happened when Covid-19 closed our doors and cast us into a virtual ministry in a digital world. Overnight we found ourselves moved from “our church home” to a church that comes into our homes. Your church staff and leadership began inviting new ideas and began to see new opportunities. The creativity and talents that emerged from our church community has been extraordinary!

Over the months your staff and vestry have come to the realization that this pandemic will fade. We will return to our church home. We will find a “new normal” and our digital world will become a permanent feature.

With this in mind, the vestry has approved the purchase of audio/visual upgrades to improve our livestreaming ability and quality. Tom Petrie is heading up a team of volunteers to work with live streaming and recordings beginning this fall. The system will be simple and training will be provided. If you are interested about learning more or in joining this new ministry team contact Tom Petrie at gobaddog@msn.com or at 314-363-7448.
The Grace Outreach Quarterly Meeting will be Sunday, August 30 at 11:30 a.m. via Zoom. The meeting will piggyback on the Virtual Coffee Hour using the same link below.

Join the meeting to help make some financial decisions. Your input and vote will be appreciated. If you have ideas for Outreach consideration, let Vince Nicosia nicosvf@att.net know so ideas can be added to the agenda.

If you are already online for Grace's Sunday Social Hour, stay with the group; the meeting will segue into the Outreach Meeting. If you are not already online, click on the link and follow the prompts at 11:30 to join the meeting.

Pastoral Care is available. Fr. Todd is the only person making face-to-face pastoral calls for those in need. As always, in cases of severe illness, hospitalization, when a person is near death, or at the death of a member of Grace, please notify Fr. Todd or the parish office as soon as possible in order to secure the ministrations of the church.

For a pastoral need you may call/text Fr. Todd at 314-365-1964. He will also continue to be available for individual and family face-to-face pastoral/spiritual care, both in his office or in your home. Please contact him for an appointment.
