iTRACE UNIVERSITY
THE ONLINE LEARNING PROGRAM FROM TRACEY TECHNOLOGIES
Greetings!

This lengthy but impressive session of the iTrace U program is a  video featuring Dr. Suvira Jain, a very high volume cataract surgeon from Mumbai, India. Dr. Jain is an excellent educator and presents how she is using the iTrace in her practice to optimize outcomes in refractive cataract surgery. She also presents findings from a study that her group performed correlating the iTrace DLI with LOCS grading and patient symptoms and to document the improvement made in the DLI, HOAs, and MTF over time post-operatively. The confidence Dr. Jain has in the iTrace is exciting and, as a surgeon that has personally performed over 80,000 cataracts, has a lot to say about how the iTrace insures her patients get the best results possible.

THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN THIS TEACHING:
Dr. Jain does an impressive job explaining the many facets of iTrace, but more importantly, around the 17 minute mark discusses her study of 68 Patients with iTrace and finds a significant correlation with post-op performance and the iTrace scans of her post-op patients.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHILE YOU ARE WATCHING:
  • DLI, Chang Analysis, Toric Check, MTF…..Are you using all of the many tools in the iTrace to help you achieve the best possible results for your patients? Dr. Jain has an incredibly busy cataract practice and yet finds it essential to use the iTrace in her diagnostic workup. That fact almost certifies that there must be either efficiency or critical information (or both) that she finds necessary.
  • Consider really getting to know more about the many tools of the iTrace so that you too can become more efficient. For example, do you map ALL of your post-op patients on iTrace with each visit? Why not? You could learn a lot!

THINGS TO CONSIDER STUDYING IN YOUR PRACTICE:
  • Study the post op outcomes of 50 patients. What is the average MTF of the total eye, and does it match patient satisfaction?
  • Study the postop Toric Check of ALL torics and multifocal torics. Are you getting the lens where you need it during surgery? Is it staying there?
  • What is the toric stability of various types of lenses?
  • Does minor misalignment of Toric Multifocals cause significant patient complaints?

We'll take a break for the special weekend ahead as we all spend time focused on family. But look for our iTrace U emails to resume in your inbox next week. If you want more before then you can always visit our online library .
We hope you are enjoying the iTrace U experience. What kind of content you would like to see in the iTrace U Program? How can we improve what we are delivering to you?
