Greetings!
M
any
of our iTrace U
niversity
lessons have been focused on using the iTrace in your
everyday
cataract practice but it's also a powerful
tool
to help solve post-op laser refractive cases. Today's
session
features Dr. Jesse McKey who use
s
the iTrace to diagnose and treat an issue in a young post-refractive patient. Learn what he discovered in the iTrace exam that lead him to a treatment and an easy way to explain it all to his patient.
THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN THIS TEACHING:
Visual simulation with the iTrace is a powerful teaching tool to show the patient what and where the issues are. By using tools in the software to simulate the effect of the pupil on vision, you can fix some night vision issues simply by shrinking the pupil with drops.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHILE YOU ARE WATCHING:
- Do you have the iTrace at the point of patient education (your lanes, your surgical coordinator, etc.)?
- Do you know what all of the screens are for and how to maximize your iTrace?
- Do you need more efficiency in your optical discussions with patients?
THINGS TO CONSIDER STUDYING IN YOUR PRACTICE:
- How many times are you sure you know what is wrong with a patient’s vision but change your mind after looking at iTrace data? Each and every one of those cases is a case study worth teaching others.
- How many times a week do you change your plan or re-think a treatment?
