iTRACE UNIVERSITY
THE ONLINE LEARNING PROGRAM FROM TRACEY TECHNOLOGIES
Greetings!

Today’s session of iTrace University dovetails nicely with the previous teaching about using Corneal MTF as a screening tool. This video with Mitchell Shultz, M.D. from California details how he uses the iTrace to screen for premium lens candidates so he can make sure that he uses the right lens for the right patient. He also makes sure that he minimizes the post-op problems that could result from the wrong lens in the wrong patient, ultimately building a more successful premium lens practice.

THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN THIS TEACHING:
The two elements of screening include optical alignment and the optical quality of the cornea. Dr. Shultz considers himself conservative in using these screening elements but he implants Multifocals and Multifocal torics. So he has found a way to be conservative in his selections process but still offer complex lenses when he knows it will yield a good result.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHILE YOU ARE WATCHING:
If you have more confidence in who will do really well with a multifocal or MF Toric lens, will you use more of them?
How do you screen your patients now? Is it working?

THINGS TO CONSIDER STUDYING IN YOUR PRACTICE:
Does Corneal MTF match your pre-op selection process?
Does Total Eye MTF on post op eyes match the patient satisfaction when Multifocals are chosen?
