if not now, when?
woman_serve_wine.jpg
When offered a choice of wine flavor, I cannot tell you the number of times that guests in my home say - "Oh don't open a bottle."

Wait, what is wine for, if not to open it? What are guests for, if not to share food, wine, conversation, time, and camaraderie? That's why I buy a stock of different wines for my wine rack - for guests!

Who do they think I am saving that bottle for - a better guest? If not now ... when?

I realize friends are only trying to "be polite," yet life is happening this minute, snippeteers. We should not be waiting "for a better time" for anything. There usually will not be a better time to get the bunion surgery or buy the house.

Do not wait to wear that "special" piece of expensive jewelry or that new dress. Do not save that "good" cigar. Do not wait to sit in the "formal" living room "saved" only for special occasions. (I do not even have a formal living room ... we live in every room!)

Every day is a special occasion.

Snippeteers, there is no time like this minute. Here. Now. Today. The next hour, next day, next week, next year, and the next bottle of wine, is not promised. (Maybe another friend will drink it!)

So when someone wants to open a bottle of wine FOR YOU - for Pete's sake, let them. Don't be so polite. You deserve new ... you deserve fresh ... you deserve a celebratory toast ... you deserve your flavor of choice (with whatever in life).

Let them open the damn bottle of wine.

snippeteer backtalk
"Last SNIPPETS hit home with me. I had a conversation with a Customer Service about their service. I first told her, 'When I said 'you,' I am referring to your company - not you personally.' When I finished our conversation, I was feeling good about being polite."

"Good read!"

"Oh, how this one resonated!! Self-control can just fly out the window when things do not go our way. It is all in looking at the glass as 1/2 full and making that lemonade out of lemons (just add some vodka) - often easier said than done for sure!! I also LOVED your Good to Giggle. Tru dat!!! Thanks for your ability to share your challenges and lessons learned!! You always hit the nail on the head with your insights and perspective. Hugs!!"
~ Sandy in Maryland

"Loved the giggle, too."

"Perfect! Another great reminder. I need to just know when to stop talking!"
~ Carey in Maryland

"Suzanna, I just have to say all of your Snippets are always on point. I wish you could put together a book of all, to reference back to them. Anyway, keep the snippets going. They always enlighten my Fridays."
~ Best, Anne G.

good to giggle
Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with his dog. One day the dog died, so Muldoon visited the parish priest.

“Father Patrick, me dog is dead. Could ye be sayin' Mass for the poor creature?”

Father Patrick replied, “I'm afraid no, we canna have a Mass for an animal in the church. But there are Baptists down the lane; no tellin' what they'll do."

“Thanks. I'll go right away," said Muldoon. "And Father, do ye think five-thousand is enough to donate to their church to perform a service for me pet?”

“Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus!" cried the priest. "Why did ye no tell me the dog was Catholic?”
