independence!
stars_stripes_sunglasses.jpg
I have my curly head deep-deep-deep into proofing the first draft of my new book, Italians in Baltimore , which is back from the publisher with my next deadline, so
I am taking a SNIPPETS-FREE Friday off
in honor of Independence Day.

See you back here next week, snippeteers!
Enjoy a red/white/blue safe no-hotdog weekend!
snippeteer backtalk
"I just read your SNIPPETS , I live in Pasadena, and I knew about Kingsdene garden center! lol"
~ Dave in Maryland

"You are so sweet! I'm so glad we connected, too. Who knew? Plus, I got at least 2 calls asking if I was the 'Maria.' "
~ Maria in Maryland

"This is so true! I used to give tours at the Stranahan House located in Fort Lauderdale that focused on local history. So many times, a local would stop in to take the tour and ask, 'How long has this place been here? How did I not know?' The typical guest was a visitor or snowbird. As docents, we really thought it was strange that more locals didn't stop by, learn about the local history, or explore some of the events we offered. Then it hit us, people don't play tourist in their backyard! When we travel to other destinations, we make it a point to explore and read up on the fun and different things to do in the area. We get so caught up in our daily routines, we don't take the time to stop and try something that is right under our nose."
