Employee Notes
Oakwood University was well represented at the Jenzabar Annual Meeting (JAM), May 30 to June 2, in Nashville, Tennessee. JAM is an annual gathering of staff from institutions like Oakwood who use the Jenzabar operating system, and provided an opportunity for representatives from Accounting, Administrative Systems, Student Accounts, Admissions, Financial Aid, Center for Student Success, Development and the Registrar's Office to connect with their peers from across the country, attend a variety of over 300 workshops, share time- and money-saving ideas, insights, and cutting-edge information.

Organizers are confident that Gail Caldwell, Levi Woodson, Kerry Joseph, Alicia Juzang, Taina Nixon, Cathy Mayfield-Rocker, Selena Boyd, Dianne Cheddar, Tracy Moore, Derek Lane, Anthony Walker and Karen Christmas returned to Oakwood with renewed perspectives on how to maximize the investment in the Jenzabar operating software, advanced strategies, and new connections for year-round networking and collaboration.

Karen Christmas (pictured, far right) from the Admissions Office facilitated a workshop titled “Never Fear, the Advising RBU is Here,” which explained various ways to use the Advising Rules-based Update (RBU) to enhance the Advising Worksheet and provided a step-by-step guide for setting up the Advising RBU. This is Ms. Christmas' second time presenting at the Jenzabar Annual Meeting.

Show yOUr pride with an Oakwood License Plate
Purchasing an Oakwood University License Plate is a simple way to contribute to scholarships for our students who are Alabama residents. Visit your nearest Alabama DMV office and request your Oakwood University collegiate plate when you normally register your vehicle. Much of the additional fee can be claimed as a charitable contribution toward scholarships for students from Alabama (Section 32-6-156, Code of Alabama 1975).

Q: Are plates in this category transferable? If so, to whom?
A: Yes. If a motor vehicle is transferred to the transferor's spouse or child, at the option of the transferor, the license plate may remain on the vehicle in the hands of the transferee upon payment of a small fee for recording the transfer of the license plate.

Q: What type of vehicles may this plate be displayed upon?
A: Private passenger automobiles, pickup trucks, and pleasure motor vehicles (i.e., recreational vehicles)

Q: How are the net proceeds from the purchase of this plate distributed?
A: The net proceeds are distributed to the general scholarship funds at Oakwood for scholarship grants to Alabama resident students only. These fees represent a charitable contribution from the purchaser to the general scholarship fund at Oakwood University.

Currently the plates are available only in the State of Alabama. Contact us at pr@oakwood.edu for more information.
