"A Case for Love"
January 23
"A Case for Love” is a documentary that examines whether or not love, specifically unselfish love, is the solution to the extreme societal and political divide facing the U.S. Participants in the film include random people on the street and well-known figures, including Pete Buttigieg, Al Roker, Becca Stevens, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and more. The project weaves together different individual narratives yet compels us to consider our common humanity.
The film will be shown nationwide on one day only--January 23--with screenings in thousands of theaters. The Episcopal Church Women will host a gathering in the Charlotte area; please visit their website to learn more and take part.

NEW: Diocesan Book Study and Pilgrimage Preparation
Tuesdays beginning February 6, 12-1:15 p.m., via Zoom
If you are interested in the pilgrimage to Wilmington, or even just interested in key moment in our state's history, join the upcoming pre-pilgrimage book study of Wilmington’s Lie: The Murderous Coup of 1898 and the Rise of White Supremacy by David Zucchino. Also a wonderful Lenten event, this eight-week series is a diocesan-wide book reading and lunchtime discussion.
There is no cost to attend this event, and all are welcome, regardless of whether you plan to take part in the April pilgrimage. We recommend that you purchase the book from your preferred book retailer.
Contact Jenny Beaumont, missioner for adult and lifelong formation, with questions.
NEW: SAVE THE DATE: Pilgrimage to Wilmington
April 12-14
“Before 1898, Wilmington was home to 11,324 African Americans and 8,731 white people. It was North Carolina’s largest and most bustling city, and much of its success was thanks to African American leaders and businesspeople.” (“A History of Hatred and Love in Wilmington, North Carolina" by Lauren Krouse) We will prayerfully remember and learn more about the Coup of 1898, journeying through history until today.
Our journey to Wilmington will begin Friday afternoon, April 12, from Durham or Raleigh, arriving by dinner time. We will spend two nights in a hotel there, returning Sunday afternoon, April 14, after a reflective closing service of Holy Eucharist.
Registration is coming soon. If you are interested and would like to be contacted when registration is available, contact Jenny Beaumont, missioner for adult and lifelong formation.
